OK. I know about the w5 series, but im looking for something to compete with the fuji p series. Im just wondering if there is gonna be something in the near future. I know all about yonah, and too be honest its pointless on an ultraportable. The specs below would be awesome:

    1.3ghz dothan ulv (sonoma chipset)
    10.6" wxga screen
    2.5" hard drive
    integrated cd/dvd drive

The specs are realistic, just wondering if asus will complete its line-up!

i don't think a dothan ulv 1.3 exists... the highest is a 1.2. There are some sony models that are that small... but im not really famillar with them

The fastest Pentium M ULV is the 1.2 ghz. I've only seen Sony, Fujitsu, and Averatec/Twinhead offer 10.6 ultraportables right now.

Don't think it exists...not in North America, at least.

I know Asus released some small ultraportables in Asia... not recently, though.

The S200 and S300 are the smallest notebooks Asus has ever made..... and they might fit the bill, but they aren't available in North America, at least not under the Asus name. I have an imported S200, but although small and light, I really didn't think a S5 was that much bigger, but I could be a lot more productive on it.

If you want an S200 or S300 in the states, you can get it from some importors that import Japanese stuff...... JVC bought the rights to the S200 and S300 in Japan and there are a couple places that may bring it in under that name.... but you're going to pay a fourtune for it and the entire lid of the small notebook is covered with a big "JVC"....

Thanks for that guys. the 1.3 ulv is coming out next month i think, but should have stated 1.2 to avoid confusion. Anyway, had a look at the Averatec/twinhead 1000, but it has the older 855 chipset, needed the "sonoma 915" chip. The only ones that have this are the fuji p series and the sony tx series, both are really expensive!
