I really miss being able to assign the "back navigation" function to one of the touchpad buttons. Even a tap zone would be great. But, the smart gesture driver from Asus is pretty limited in assigning other functions or shortcuts. Is there a viable alternative for W8? I don't really use all the swipe functions, as I just use the touchscreen. Thanks for any recommendations.

Your pretty much limited to proprietary software - either from the OEM or the device manufacturer - as far as gesture software goes. I know Synaptics has their own, though I haven't tried it myself.

It's a Synaptics pad if I recall correctly, so give it a shot. :) Worst case scenario is you dislike it or it turns out to be incompatible, but you won't harm anything from trial and error with it.
