So I've gone from having the Asus Power4Gear Vista version with all it's nice volume up/down displays on screen, and being able to select Wifi/Wifi+BT/BT and all those modes etc etc

And downgraded to XP with it's dull menus and no way of switching BT on off easily, and generally having to combine NHC and ATITool together to achieve similar power settings as before (can't see how to customise them in XP)

And reading the NHC FAQ it has lots of info I don't quite understand about ACPI here: http://www.pbus-167.com/nhc/nhc_advanced.htm#anchor_acpi_programming

from that link and following it through to here: http://nhc.yourcopy.de/overview/

It looks like you can possily download some setup files from Asus and tweak the ACPI fully? Even add your own gfx/use the vista ones?

But my F3JP isn't listed on that Asus page, I'm thinking maybe the F3JV? It has the same BIOS as this F3JP IIRC?

    Ideas?

It's possible that the -jv ACPI might work, you'd have to try it. Tweaking the ACPI is only for one who knows what they are doing.... make a mistake and it could be seriously bad for your system.

A word of caution, however -- NHC has a history of being buggy when it comes to ACPI control of Asus systems for quite a while, and the settings don't always translate 1:1. I messed with the W3 ACPI on my notebook a while back trying to make it work and control fanspeed etc, but the fan settings were screwy and then the system started acting funny. It's not worth the potential pitfalls, imo.

    Good advice man!

I played a bit more with NHC after that post and the fan speed is now much more refined and less noisey when browsing as before, that was one of the main annoyances, so with that fixed I figure I can live with the rest of i :)

    Hi,

I have F3jp which came with XP preinstalled.
All the above mentioned hotkeys also work under XP but you have to intall some XP compatible ASUS software.
First of all you need the ASUS ATK0100 driver.
For power management use the ASUS power4gear XP version.
For switching ON/OFF WIFI/WIFI+BT/BT you need to install the ASUS Wireless Consule 2.

I have tried NHC on F3JP some time ago and I also found the ACPI control for F3jp, but it did not work very well.
One of the things is that you have to remove ASUS power4gear before you should use NHC, otherwise they conflict each other.

If you are interested in it than here is the link for ACPI file for F3jp:
