Asus is usually a couple months behind when it comes to implementing up and coming technology.

"Asus is usually a couple months behind when it comes to implementing up and coming technology."

Isn't this the case with other manufacturers as well?

If you want LED, then look at the U6, U1, and U2. I don't believe there's another 15" LED based notebook besides the MBP.

Just curious, why did you sell your MBP? Now tempted on selling my A8Js and buying one! :)

I'm looking for something similar (former W3v owner) - the U series are really captivating my attention at the moment. Any ideas on if there will be a 14" with a 9600 level graphics card?

Here's something else I've always been interested in - Why is it that only Apples seem to have backlit keyboards? Do they have some sort of patent on it? Are there any Asus models with backlit keyboards coming out?

not sure about the 9600 but chances are no. They are ultraportables and are meant for long battery life and not for gaming power. And I don't think Apple has a patent on the backlit keyboard as Alienware has laptops with backlit keyboards now, their newest models I believe. Downside is that the backlit keyboard is only with their top-end model which is 2699. A hefty price to pay...

ASUS normally releases new products like these much later than all the other companys.

Asus is the major shareholder of the taiwanese company cmo.

They are often the first to release a new lcd on the market if it comes from a taiwanese company like auo or cmo.

Like the g2 is the first notebook with the double lamp wuxga.

you have to think, almost none of the notebook makers manufacture lcds. Even though lg and samsung do make notebooks they dont even introduce new lcds on their own notebooks.
Thats cause they sell the exclusive use of new ones to the notebook makers. So asus can buy exclusive lcd use just like dell, and does.
Like the lcd on my notebook was exclusive for a few months
