I'm not sure if I should pull the trigger on the g1 or wait for the v2?

I'm thinking the g1 might be a little big and heavy?

If you wait any longer at this point, you might as well wait for Santa Rosa

What news are you looking for? There has already been a good deal of information floating around on the V2.

Will it be out in March? Maybe I should wait til May. Just not sure I can wait that long.

Is Asus going to have a full range of new laptop styles for santa rosa?

If you need a laptop now, get the best you can afford. If you don't need one yet... wait. The only other advice I'd give is to thoroughly research whichever one you decide to get. Make sure you carefully read those negative reviews of products, they're often more telling of the product than the perfect ratings.

Purell your comparing two completely different laptops here. The G1 with a 15.4" with great gaming specs and a V2 with a 14" that will be a very good business notebook and good for Vista with the dedicated GPU.

I suggest you fill out the FAQ if you haven't alraedy.

Do you want mobility? Do you want good capabilities of gaming? Will you take this to school/work/home? Also what is your budget and any other relevant information to help make this decision.

You're comparing a HEAVY 15.4" to a LIGHT 14"... If you were looking at the V1 against the V2, there are still some issues there, but the G1 and V2 are just that much further apart.

If you NEED something, you get it.... and that would mean you can't wait. Right now Asus US hasn't ordered the V2, so even if they ordered it today, it wouldn't be in for a month... so the middle of March is really the best possible chance and we haven't gotten anything to say what's going on one way or another.

I really love the v1jp ... that's my perfect notebook except the fan is on the right. I don't want to buy one with the fan on the right since I don't want warm air blowing on my mouse hand.

I will use the laptop for programming and other everyday tasks. I will hook it up using dvi to my external 24" lcd.

I want it to have a dedicated graphics card and 2 gigs of ram since i will run vista ultimate on it. Since this will be my primary computer I want it to be powerful, yet somewhat portable.

Also the g1 has no express slot for a esata card -- that's a major drawback.

I guess I have to take more time and think about my decision.

The V1JP Vent/fan on the right side will blow warm air up to 4 inches under light tasks.

The V1JP Vent/fan on the right side will blow warm air up to 6 inches under medium tasks.

In both of these cases you will be able to keep your hand in the same position for long periods of time without physically feeling burn or discomfort.

You can physically layout your home with your LCD, the laptop and your mouse and measure how many inches will your mouse be from the keyboard of the laptop...Like in a hypothetical situation.

Asus needs to hurry up with the V2. I'm getting impatient. :p

I really hope the 3.5G feature comes optional, with the V2 starting at around $1700-$1800 without the 3.5G. Most people won't need 3.5G, and it seems a waste of money to purchase the V2 for $2200, buying a $500 component that you don't need.
