I really like the W3v and the W1, although their graphics are a step behind. How come the V6va has a x700 and not any W3 model has it?!?!?!?!?! I would buy it but JESUS it has a non-widescreen display! Come on Asus there is seriously something wrong with your product managers because we're not seeing the kinds of products we want to buy!

ASUS has a complete line-up. If you want wide screen with the X700 then go for one of the A6Va models.

Also the W3V is smaller and lighter then normal notebooks, that is the reason the X700 was left out, it did (and does) not fit.

It wont be for at least 4 months, more likely 6 months. But if you can live with your current laptop for that time then you may aswell wait as there are big changes in the next couple of months, most notably the new intel dual cores, the new chipset and the x1600! Busy busy.

...u're nuts if u're thinking the w3v will come with a x1600. the only laptops that will come with such heavy graphics power are desktop replacements and the w3v certainly isnt a dtr.

NO, dtr's will come with the yet unannounced x1800. The mr x1600 is effectively a never version of the mr x700 and x600 (there will be no x1700) and they will appear in 15.4" and probably 14" (though the only lappy that has been announced is a 17"). The card is the same size as the x600 and has the same thermal properties - not sure about power though but it will probably require more.

I think the Z70va looks rediculous. Why make a computer widescreen if you're not going to use the entire display panel for the LCD? I think it looks stupid with that wasted space underneath for the stupid speakers. I don't like the 4:3 aspect ratio as much as widescreen but I'd rather have a screen that takes up the whole panel.

If i wanted widescreen i'd hop on my desktop. Likewise for the video card. Laptop is for surfing the wed when you're bore or doing school work.

I thought the same way as you did. I thought they couldn've made the overall system a tad smaller without those speakers. But after hearing the sound from all 4 speakers, I rather have them than not. :D

Not to mention, the screen is raised a little higher. Some people think it's easier to view.

The sound on the Asus Z70Va makes my Z63a sound monotonous. I'm jealous.

The sound rocks, since not only does it come from the bottom, it comes from the front as well, so you don't feel the 'tinnyness' of regular laptop speakers!

... you know, you should see the speakers on the W3/Z63.... they are amazing little units........ they actually look like a ported sub box...

Now that you've mentioned it, I have also heard a few compliments on the W3/Z63's speakers. I think they're very underrated, or should I say maybe overlooked. A funny moment on the W3V, I remember an old couple said "wow, it sounds like its in stereo". Coming from an old couple, I'll take that as a "Holy crap, that sounds totally bad @ss!!!" :p

Hopefully, I havent offended any old couples on this forum...

haha... no one should be offended, by age 20 everyones' inner ears start to deteriorate... it's a fact... so don't worry about it.

Usually in a system that's small like this you've just got a tiny little 1.5" x .25" speaker which is crappy no matter who's name some company like HP or someone would stick on it...... they're all crappy by design....

... the W3 has this wicked design that almost reminds me of a ported box like I said above...... but really it pushes air sort of like a bose wave stereo..... if you take the speaker out, you don't see anything but a hole and a tunnel back..... Since I haven't yet taken apart the speaker (although I may just do that tomorrow).... they were able to make a larger speaker diameter wise (same ones used in the V6 series)....... and place them facing up towards the palmrest......... but then the air is ported down through what is obviously slim grilles in the front of the system...... This really does make for the best sound you'll find in a system that small...
