i remember ken said hes gonna wk on the new c90s bios to fix the ram problems, i updated mine to 502 from the stock bios and the ram speed still remains 266mhz (2* 1GB kingston 800Mhz default), the 702 version just downgrade the speed to 266mhz so i didn't bother to try it, so.. anyone had any ideas to fix the ram problems? or does anyone knos when the new bios will be released?? THX MUCH~

god dame it asus! this model has been out for a month and there's no sign that asus will release a new bios to solve such critical problem!!! now i can't even using my laptop w/o ac pluged in, w/ the battery, i get 30% chance for a blue screen during boot, 70% freeze on desktop...tried w/ both vista and xp.... i really felt regret for not getting a g1s or np5790..

You have a ram incompatibility issue thats what it seems like since you can't run off of ac battery and such.

which might not be fixed by the BIOS update, you'd be better off just slapping in some new RAM (do a search to find what RAM is good for Asus models)

Yep its a ram issue, yesterday when I tried my new corsair memory I got random blue screen at boot, and couldnt get into windows. Went back to the 2gb of nanya with no problems.

the other ram I tried froze totally at boot every time. I hope they can fix it with a bios update, but I gave in and ended up settling with 2gb of ram instead just for the sake of things. Now I can finally run from battery, and I cant say 2gb seems slower than 3gb but I really have not tested it extensivly.

yup, that's why it sucks to preorder a product, before it came out i did a series of research of this nb, turn out quite impressive, ddr2 800, 512MB 8600M GT ddr3 + conroe, now i just realized u can't really trust on any pc preview site b/c they provide FALSE info. b4 asus release it, there's no warning of ram incompatiblity! now i have to seat on the last row of comp prog class b/c my laptop must be plug to the wall, and my 800Mhz ram now runs at 533mhz + 5 in latency, a diff set of ram will be an extra $130(which also made current ram wasted) , Asus really pisses me this time.

sigh yeah this ram thing is defitnely weird i had my config working sort of fine a couple of days ago, but yesterday I couldnt work from battery again (2 minutes tops and then bsod).

One thing though i tought that some version/revison of processors are incompatible too.

how do i know if my processor is having issues too?

    oh god =\

ive run through 350$ worth of ram and i still cant get a set of ram to run on battery

ive found that 1 gig of corsair from newegg can run on battery, but not the 2gig corsair from newegg, or the 1 gig ddr2 800mhz from ezwiz

this asus crap is seriously pissing me off now =\

I ordered 2 gig of 1 gb of corsair value select and they worked fine. It seems getting the 3 gb configuration poses even more problems. 2x 1 gb I mean.

Hmm. That's the main reason why I order the memory to be installed with the laptop at GenTech. So hopefully I don't have that issue, if I do, I know it probably is not the ram, but some other unforeseen misfortune.
