I recently bought the M9V roughly 1-1.5 months ago.
This is the first laptop I've owned and after a couple weeks of deciding I found that the M9V would suit my needs and heard from many other people that Asus was a very trustworthy and stable brand to buy from.
I've recently have a few problems with the laptop though, one being the delete key doesn't quite work, I have to apply a large amount of pressure on it for it to work. This is the only key that seems to have problems, would there be any reason for this? I've noticed that when I first bought the laptop the delete key wasn't working like the other keys and gradually in time it has gotten worse.
My major issue today is that, my LCD is having problems. When I open the hatch and turn on the laptop it starts fine then when I move the laptop (I usually have it in my lap during lectures) the screen flickers. This also occurs when I adjust the angle of which the screen is tilted. There is a button on the keyboard which actually turns the LCD off and has no backlight coming out of it, I'm receiving the same results even though I'm only adjusting the screen nothing else. Also what I've concluded, that it only happens with I'm not using AC power and when the laptop isn't connected to AC power the brightness level is very dull unlike when I first bought the laptop.
Does anyone know why? or has other asus models have the same problems?
I live in Australia, Brisbane and I'm wondering if there are any places to fix it or have it looked at? The computer store at which I bought it at told me to call a number, but the service center is in Sydney, NSW.
Seeing I'm a first time Asus or laptop user, any input would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks.
Brendan.

Brendan,
I think Corio or Proportable can answer this question much better than me, but doesn't ASUS pick up your notebook for reparation? -
-
The 'tab' for the keyboard may be slightly off, check of the top right is 'popping out'. If that's not it, then you have a faulty keyboard, contact your dealer or ASUS, and they'll send you a new one.
Have you tried connecting power onto the M9v, then picking it up and tilting it as you did when it was on battery? Also, is the flickering of the screen brightness, or the LCD backlighting turning on and off? -
Also when I connect my notebook to AC power the flickering doesn't occur, well doesn't seem to. The problem is the whole LCD backlighting is turning on and off not just the brightness levels. -
That screen flickering... it could be caused by a faulty/loose LCD connector. I came to that conclusion because you said it happens when you adjust the position of the LCD...
I think this is best handled by an Asus Repair depot. -
Another query, with the inbuilt web camera after rebooting it occasionally stops working? What happens is that after a reboot sometimes when I turn it on it just shows a black screen, then I reinstall the drivers and they work fine. That means I have to carry the drivers CD with me everywhere I go incase this happens which is a bit of a bother but I don't particularly care. -
Bringing back this topic, I gave my notebook to the Asus repair center in Brisbane, Australia and they were very friendly and told me the repairs should take 1-2 days if they had the parts.
I also asked them if they could upgrade the RAM for me, they told me if I could get the RAM and give it to them they would install it for me. What model number, brand, price, where to buy? etc.. should I know before buying RAM for my M9V?
One more quick question, I usually have Webcam conversations with my relatives in America using MSN Messenger. When I'm using my notebook with the inbuilt webcam the audio automatically turns on from the program and a very loud high pitch sound comes from my laptop. When I mean loud, it's very loud. I think it's because a microphone is close to the speaker it makes that noise, so is it a flaw for the M9V or something? I can't have an audio conversation with the inbuilt microphone?
Thanks.
Brendan.
Any other M9V owners?
