    Hello all

I have a nice (and old) laptop Asus M6000V laptop, almost 4 years old now, but duo to its superb built qulity it is still is very good shape.

The other day I did something stupid and burned something inside my mobo. it seems the circuit for battery is dead. Laptop works, but not on the battery. I have normal and multi bay battery, and it does not work on either of them. It works fine with power from adaptor.

I guess this part of the mobo is solidered right on it and I would need a new mobo, but for such an old machine, new mobo must be more than its worth...

Any idea, or its time to say bye bye?

If the mainboard still working on AC mode you can send it to Asus and request out of warranty repair to see if they can repair you board, it usually cost much less than buy a new mainboard.

Looks like you just got a valid excuse for a nice new laptop :p

But what Ken said is your best option if you want to keep it and have it work on battery, see if Asus has the parts to fix it and how much it will cost you.

OP, sorry about your laptop, my M6BNe is still running strong...

Isn't it likely that they'll just replace the mainboard though, rather than invest time in detecting which part is faulty, soldering etc.? And the cost of mainboard replacement will get into the hundreds of dollars...
