Hi, I have to admit, I'm not into having the Fn key on the left of the Ctrl key. If I was on my laptop for 100% of the time, I wouldn't be a problem, but the whole world has the Ctrl key on the very left. I do a lot of graphics, so I use shortcuts all the time. That means a lot of Ctrl pushing.
I remember reading somewhere that there's a tiny program where you can configure/switch keys on a keyboard. Just wondering if you guys know of any? Thanks.
I've tried KeyTweak, but it won't work with the Fn key. :(

Physically you could switch those key covers and I'm sure there's a program out there that could do it..... nothing we've seen here though.

... ya, well... before you get him too excited... the FN key, of course, is the only one that cannot be remapped

...at least as far as I managed to find out. It's handled on hardware level.

and I tried really hard because stupid keyboard layouts -especially CTRL in the wrong place- are the #1 dealbreakers for me... I really wanted to get an Asus lappy :( but sadly, 's not gonna happen. As a matter of fact, there is only one notebook in the whole world that has a perfect keyboard in all aspects...

I just don’t get what moron designed that layout. I’m really happy with my V6 but, FN/CTRL key, DELETE key and small ENTER just drives me nuts ! It’s almost full size keyboard and there was much Asus could have done about it, but they chose not to…

I bought TradeKeys a couple of years back. I have just checked and the Fn key is not an option that is offered for remapping.

Correct. I've tried everything also. That's why in their discription they write: "you can remap your keyboard almost any way you want". Sorry folks, the only way you can change it, is to buy another computer. :(

Personally the Fn location is a plus for me. I find it more comfortable not having to stretch my pinky but to only curl the finger in a bit.

Maybe you FPS guys should try it, put you're fingers on WASD then curl your finger in to move it down from Shift. For me, on a normal layout it goes to the Windows key which is where Ctrl would be on the Asus. This feels more natural than stretching out my pinky.

But switching to a normal layout keyboard is a pain. I was given a free wireless keyboard a few years back that had a Fn key on the far left that I use and now whenever I use 'normal' keyboards I regularly hit the Windows key instead of Ctrl. Incredibly annoying in games as it task switches to desktop.

that exactly what I meant :p except.. how could you push windows key? I mean, all(in this case, most) laptop keyboard have similar interface at the bottom left, and I think if the func key and ctrl exchanged, this would've been normal keyboard, but normal(external) keyboard would be different because there is no Fn keys.. so I guess that's just another thing :)
EDIT: I get it. Ctrl+fn(combined) in laptop keyboard almost like same size of ctrl in external keyboard.. so it shouldn't be a problem?

anyways... anybody found any software? :asus:

LazyBum131 was "given a free wireless keyboard a few years back". So I was an older one, and since it was free, I take it was old to begin with. Some small form factor wireless keyboards had actual laptop keyboards on them. Some had function keys to turn things off/on or to raise volume and stuff. It comes down to whatever you're used to. Some use a desktop 90% of the time and find it hard to adapt to the Asus keyboard. Some adapt just fine. And then there are some that use there laptop 100% of the time.

Yes there are many tools out there that will remap keys, but the Fn isnt displayed, so you can't remap it. It's not part of the keyboards layout. I thought maybe we could do it through bios, but no luck. :(
