I have a big problem with overheating on my Asus F3T. When it runs at 100% it will overheat so I'd like to have it run at 70% or something, but I can't figure out a way to change the pre-set profiles in any of my notebook utilities like Power4Gear, Notebook Hardware Control or anything.

When I go into bios on the 'CPU Configuration' tab everything is greyed out and I can't click anything either.

    Any help?

Hi, and welcome to the forums!
A better way around the overheating issue is to clean your fan, vent and heatsink if it hasn't been cleaned for a while. Check out the cooling guide for more info.
If you set your power4gear to office or battery mode, your CPU should automatically downclock to a lower frequency already.

    Thank you or your answer.

I checked the cooling guide and I already have checked that there is absolutely 0 dust in the system and I also have a zalman notebook cooler under my laptop at all times but still the cpu overheats while playing games.

I have no clue why but I can't undervolt because no settings get up when I enter NHC and when I go into bios I can't do anything in the 'configure cpu' section. Neither can I underclock my gpu or anything like that.

Basically the max performance is too high and my computer will shut down, but the max battery option is too slow and games will get unplayable.
800mhz -> 2000mhz. No way to get it inbetween or any program to underclock my cpu?

Check out flipfire's undervolting guide...you can use RMClock to automatically select from a range of different speeds, plus you may be able to cut some of the heat by undervolting.

I wonder if the GPU is the main source of the problem though. My sister has a GF7600 in a 14.1" laptop and the fan is always cycling at idle.

I strongly suggest RMClock, assuming you have an Intel CPU (not sure how it works with AMD CPUs, but even in that case you could give it a try). You should have much better control over your CPU with RMClock.

NHC has many issues with recent notebooks, maybe including yours.

Also, if the CPU does not switch clock as you expect it, maybe there are also some problems with the ATK (power management) drivers? You could try reinstalling or updating them.
