Hi.
I have a c90s and do a fair bit of web work with it. Recently I noticed when exporting a JPEG gradient image from Photoshop it had very bad banding even at 100% quality.
What is odd is it doesn't appear with a PNG file format. I have never noticed any problems with other images or photos only this gradient image.
I don't know what bit rate my screen is (which is really stupid of me not to check I know) is there away of telling? Could it be something to do with Vista?
The image is fine on other machines but I have not had a chance to create the Jgradient on my desktop and view it on the laptop.
Has anyone experienced any banding issues with gradient images on the c90s?
Regards
Sam

Not yet, but I didn't have the chance to do some extensive work on it. If I do see something strange I'll report that here. But I'm using XP and Linux and probably will do that for a loooong time..

The C90s review showed the gradients, try looking there

connect to external monitors for easier view if you do lots of photography work. The screen is more accurate than the one on laptop

i know exactly what you are talking about, i had the same problems with some gradients, and i did a little reaserch and found out that LCD displays do not display all the millions of colors that a CRT does. Because of this some gradiends specially Jpgs and Gifs look disorted.

I've never heard of anyone doing serious graphics work on a laptop. You'll want a specially made, specially tuned monitor if color fidelity and such things are important to you. At the very least, you'll probably want a well calibrated LCD monitor. Good info here.

Hey everyone thanks for your replies,
I came really close to buying a Mac, (like you D3X I am a PC guy) kinda wish I did though, this machine has been one disapointment after another, guess I should have done my research better.
Thanks again

I haven't had much issues with my c90 even with gradients. Infact I was quite impressed with the colors on my c90s, with the Spyder2, it was able to correct some minor whitepoint, blue hue issues, but overall it's a better panel compared to my W3V.
Perhaps your panel is defective or of a different inferior manufacturer? -
I have talked to my support guys about it and sent them some pics, I have been looking into something like the Spyder for a while now, perhaps its time to bite the bullet and get one.
Everything else about the panel seems good just that gradient, what was strange though was that when I exported the image as an 8bit png it looked fine, I can understand a 24bit looking better but I would have though an 8bit would look even worse then the JPEG.
Thanks again for all the replies
