    Hey,

I'm going to the US for a couple of days next week and I need a new laptop. I was looking at the ASUS N53 series but an upgrade seems to be coming soon. Anybody know when the first SB laptops will be available at retailers (online or local)? Will they be out before mid January? Thanks.

Lenovo is making its SB laptops available at earliest March.. and latest May. Be prepared to wait a while (ie. at least 1-2 months).

Since notebookcheck already has a N53SV in their hands, ASUS technically could make it available this month. It might be a pre-production model but honestly it's just a refresh so I doubt they need to change much. ASUS would be kind of stupid not to take advantage of everyone else's delay if possible :). Speed to market is everything, although speed with quality is important as well.

I believe there was a thread that said they'd be available in January for select ASUS models (G53SV, N53SV, N73SV, G73SV.. and one more).

Yeah, there was an article as well which mentioned that the G53SV, for example, will be available in January. I'll be in the States until May, so do you reckon I should just wait for Sandy Bridge? Pricing no the the G53SV should be roughly the same as on the G53 right?

Pricing will likely remain the same or similar. It would be wise to wait for SB if you intend to buy one of the ASUS models, but if you need a laptop immediately and do not intend to buy an ASUS model then don't wait :).

The G53/G73SW are both expected to be slightly more expensive than their JW predecessors, by $150 or so at launch.
