Anyone buy g1s from btotech?

hey im going to get one in 2-3 weeks but im still deciding to get it from either btotech.com or gentech.com bto would be cheaper, i save about 130 dollars, and they sell the extra battery i need. (im upgrading HD and ram)

i hear alot about gentech, but nothing about btotech on this forum so i dont know yet. any feedback will be great

 

btotech is a good reseller and so is gentechpc, choose based on how much money you will save.

I ordered the ASUS G1 from btotech in the past two months and was nothing but happy with their service. They have a chat client you can get on on their site and ever time I had a question, it seemed as if someone was sittingn right in front of the computer waiting for some one to chat with. They shipped my computer the same day may e-check was verified and answered every question I had exceptionally fast. I even messed up the payment, they simply billed me for the shipping I forgot to add in and I paid that. The packaging was excellent and my computer came in perfect shape. Hmm, I emailed them with some questions about ordering the G1S for Switzerland, and have yet to receive a reply. I hope they're just overwhelmed with such enquiries, and they get to mine early next week.

 

Depending on the time of day there in Switzerland, you should try the online chat client they have, it got a lot of answers for me real quick.

I just ordered the G1S from BTOtech on Thursday night. I haven't received the laptop yet, According to UPS it should be here next Friday. They shipped it out Friday morning which is pretty quick. So far I'm very pleased with their service. You really can't beat the price for a G1S.

 

thanks for the reply, please let me know how you like it, also did you upgrade anything? im planning on upgrading to 4GB ram and 7200 rpm 160gb HD. I would like to find someone with a 7200 HD, i need to know if its really loud

 

I have purchased from btotech.com twice. They are great.

 

No I didn't upgrade the hard drive and 4GB is really kind of a waste for 32bit Vista. I believe a read a review that the 7200 HD drive was pretty quiet. I have a 7200 HD on my old laptop and it wasn't any noisier than the previous 5400 rpm drive.

I'm on the west coast so it is going to take a while until I get it (I never upgrade shipping, I'd rather spend my money on other things) but I'll let you know once I do.

 

I have pre-ordered from XoticPC, they plan to have their units on the website by Monday (maybe) and the product in on Tuesday or Wednesday. They do have the Seagate 7200 series in 160Gb size as an option, and they have a great price for it. They also have a satisfaction Guarantee, that the other don't. I hope to have mine by Friday.

Another thing to consider is the Sales Tax implications. Most sites charge sales tax if you live in the same state. I am in California so gentech and Milestone are to going to charge me tax --> 8.25% or so is a bunch of money... Btotech is in NY state, so that could have been an option, but they have a Sale is final clause... I like the added security of a satisfaction guarantee.

The product should be the same from anyone since they get it shipped from Asus, so the differences between vendors are the service, upgrades and cost.

One thing I see that would make me order from Gentech instead of Btotech is that when you customize them with 7200rpm HD's you can get the G1S-A1 with a 120 GB Seagate Momentus for less than 10 bucks more than you get a 100GB 7200 rpm HD from btotech.

Why does xoticpc allow 100% refund on barebones and customized laptops? (g1s is not a barebone its ensemble)
becuase the warranty and assembly is actually done with their disti which allows returns for 100% refund. they can also allow to resell the same notebook as new. you never know where the returns go. our returns go on our forum for sale as open box less 10%.

 

Well Eddie has been pretty quiet around here lately - probably because BTOTech moved physical locations recently - but I bought my Z33 from them in February 2006 and couldn't be happier.

Now if Asus would just make a suitable follow-up model to upgrade to when my warranty runs out in a year and a half... I am less then impressed with the Z37S (ASMobile S37S now I suppose).

 

You can't go wrong with btotech or gentechpc. Both are respectable resellers. If I were you, I'd just go with whatever is easier on the wallet.

 

I ordered a G1S from BTOTech yesterday, and despite screwing up the order (It was my screw up - Eddie will recognize me as the guy who didn't pay the ground charge) all correspondence and following corrections to the order were very timely and to the point.

The huge amount of money saved by not paying sales tax (almost 200 dollars, in addition to the starting price being 100 less than most other vendors) is completely offset by tacking on an extra 39 bucks to get the laptop from NY to CA in 2 days. I'm happy with that decision. I'll post my final experiences with the vendor once the piece arrives.

I wish there was an automated order status tracking system, but that's just my childish impatient side coming out.

 

You're not the only one who didn't put the ground charge in the original payment. I was in CA when I bought my G1 too and didn't pay the ground charge, they just billed me later, very easy to take care of and they were very helpful.

 

i spend atleast an hour out of the week billing people for ups ground charges becuase the firewalls blocked the zip popup. You would think we can just include ground into the cost of the price by raising it to avoid the popup but that would require recoding the entire java script for the shopping cart. Anyone here a script/site programmer. Need a 100% compatible paypal cart.
