Its really annoying because the w1j would be perfect for my needs, yet ASUS thinks isnt sending them to the U.S. I mean they are making so many models, why not s**** a different one from comming here and allow that one.

Any ideas as to why asus is doing this?

i would assume that it would be related to the fact that asus is saturating the market with x1600 machines. the w3j will be out; the s96j is out, and soon the z96j. most importantly, the v1j is slated for release here. if the w1j were released beforehand, it would definitely reduce the number of people buying the v1j. they would be creating too much competition for themselves. at least, that's my speculation.

It's not a matter of sending them to the US, it's about importing them to the US..... the US office controls what they buy, if they think as I do that the August release of the V1j would completely stop anyone from buying a W1j, then they wouldn't put the time and money into importing it... and that is indeed the case.

I like the w1j but since its the same weight as the w2j you might as well get the 17in machine. because for a 15.4 in its heavy

that's the other main reason Asus didn't import the W1v this past year as well..... simply too much like the W2 in weight and price.. yet you get a larger screen on the W2.

I have a w2v and have had the v6va. The w2v looks just like the w1j and honestly the v6va really looks just as nice in person. Just as solid as well. But the weight savings alone are well worth it for when the v1j comes out. 7.5lbs for a 15.4in w1j is pretty heavy concidering the average weight for a 15.4 is 6.5lbs. the v1j will be about 5.8lbs
