The general consensus around here is that everyone thinks the V1J looks nice...
-
heh, optical out and a 2nd hard drive option, nice.
and killer looks.
but i could really use that awesome set up in a 14.1" package... -
and a spillproof keyboard, too! :asus: -
Does that mean I'll be able to go swimming with my notebook?
-
-
i dont think it looks nice at all.
-
I didn't say it's a bulletproof method, but it's the future I tell you!
-
Best picture I've seen so far:
and other pics:
With a little luck I am going to pick up my Merom V1J on the 12th of September -
Oh yeah and again air went on the right side!! :] IMO it looks like W3 turned to 15,4"
-
to bad it doesnt share the hinge design of the v6j that kinda ruins the looks now i think.
-
-
The right side LOOKS EXACTLY the same as the V6, same exact ports!
If anything, that may be a V6 right side, because it looks exactly the same, and the camera hump is missing... -
its looks very nice. I am more interested in its sibling, the tablet R1F, which is probably going to replace my ailing c314xmi
-
I wish they would stop putting the air vents on the right side! thats the one thing that really bugs me esp. when I'm a righty like most people out there, esp. when at load, it pumps out a lot of hot air onto your hand and mouse, wish they would change the layout of the cpu to the left or the back...
-
I hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and even if it does I think I'll still get one. Looks amazing to me, though not quite as pretty as the w3j.
-
Would you consider replacing your V6Va with V1J if it comes with Merom?
Dug -
I have used pretty much most asus series and the v series is the best built and nicest looking in person period. only the w2j might be built a tad better. you really cant appreciate it till you use one. -
i have a w3j..and still think the V series is the better looker..woulda went with the v6j actually if it had the x1600

I would say that I like the V1j only because of the docking station...other than that I would take a V6j (like I have) anyday over this.

For the price they are asking, it better look nice...
-
Does anyone know what price they are asking?
Maybe that's been answered elsewhere, I couldn't find it though. I agree about the docking station. A lot of people seem to think they aren't worth it, but with an extra monitor, HDD, speakers and such, it's a freakin godsend to have one. Just makes everything so much easier. -
What do you mean?
The V1 has everything I expect from a laptop. It will be my next buy, I only hope the price is not too sky high. What do you think? I think it will be quite pricey...
EDIT: Hmm.. on this site it actually has a price, but in Euros, I think... -

If that is any indication on price....2000 Euros is extremely expensive.
megabyte, that is for the original V1J with Core Duo...not C2D...so i'm not sure how pricing is going to be...but if I had to guess it would definately be over $2000USD atleast. -
Ahhhhh, ok, that comes out to $2,014 US. If that's what it's going to be then I'm getting one, no doubt about it.
-
The V1 is in the same price class than the W3J. I was going to buy the W3J, but since the V1 is coming out, I'd rather wait a bit.
I mean, same price class, BUT the V1 as EXTRA features like fingerprint reader, spillproof keyboard, expansion slot, docking station(optional), webcam that the W3J DON'T have.
Don't get me wrong, W3J is great laptop, but I think the V1 will be even better! -
Are there higher res pictures of the V1J? I wanna know the build quality difference between that and W3J. I really hate the way the webcam sticks out and how the fingerprint reader always in the middle of the 2 touchpad clickers -_-
-
why does everyone keep saying the V1j is coming out? In nothing that i've heard is it slated for North America.
I mean if it was and there was at least a window of a time frame i would maye wait. But we want to get a laptop already.
I'm about to get a stock v6j for a good price and was going to upgrade it to merom after some time.
maybe instead i will just get teh v1j if it ever comes to the US. that is a little much though and i i knew it was coming maybe i would wait.
Haven't heard of a official stock merom v6j release either so i see no need to wait for that.
What else differs between a v6j and a v1j? Euro release has yonha processor so no diff. i now some countries like poland and Switzerland got a merom version and this info at beginning of thread says it will.
what else? vid card is better in v1j, i'm asuming hoping. its a wsxga right? that is good to evenly compare with v6j's sxga
I know a wide screen looks smaller then square one so i'm glad its 15.4", i wonder if that will look about same size as the 15" square screen? 15.4" wide might even look smaller then it though so i dont think i will feel it is too big
is the v1j just as thin light and portable as the v6j?
any other differences between the 2 and/or comparison.
do we have any news on a US release or not? -
Maybe just me finding it not as nice as the W2/W1 or the MBPs. I like squarer front, but that is pure personal taste. But the spec looks very nice indeed.
-
just wish more asus notebooks came with a DVI port, other than the A8jm/s, i like the stats of the A8js but I won't compromise on the quality though, I would rather get the W3J or possibly this V1J
-
what do you use dvi port for? connection to monitor? tv? rather it have hdmi then like i think the W2P is supposed to have along with its hddvd drive etc. but i guess that thing is a ways off and not even released in europe like the v1j
i just really wonder how long its going to take them to bring it to the uS if ever, cus there has been no word of that being planned. and yet ppl are waiting for something that they dont even know is goign to happen let alone have time frame. -
ok and for tvs, which all now have HDMI you can use a DVi to HDMI cable.
Anyone else think the new V1 looks nice?
