I'm having the same DVD won't boot and after install from within XP, machine won't boot problems others have had. I was just wondering if anyone has managed to work around it yet?

I'm running BIOS 209 which came with my notebook. I heard mention of a 210 version but the Asus download pages are disabled or something at the moment due to high traffic.

I know how to fix XP so it boots again after the vista installer screwing it up, that's no problem. I just want to know if there is a way to get the DVD to boot.

I tried the disc in my desktop machine and it booted up just fine. In the A8 you just get the press and key to boot from CD/DVD message then it reboots.

Could it have something to do with ACPI, the FAT32 recovery partition at the beginning of the HDD, maybe the DVD doesn't like the Go 7600 and can't render the screen? Does BIOS 210 fix it?

Are people having similar problems with other machines and what do they have in common with the A8Jm?
