I've got the Zalman ZM-NC 1000 and it works just fine. I've got the same notebook as you have and the feet of the noteebok fit exactly the width of the cooler. It keeps it 2-3 degrees cooler, the sound si barely noticeable and it give a nice cool breeze to your hands.

    I'm also using Zalman ZM-NC 1000 =).
I haven't done any temp measurements, but I would say that the notebooks bottom is much more cooler than without additional cooling. I's especially noticeable when playing something like CoD4... I'm very satisfied with it.

PS: I've Acer 5920G and it's slightly wider than ZM-NC1000, about an inch...
