Is there a possible way to this change it to a cooler sound like the voice of the crysis nanosuit saying someting like "Maximum Game" or any kind of short sound, that would be cool, has anyone done this before,
Please respond noebook experts,,, thanks

If you're referring to the explosion sound during boot, then I believe that can't be changed. AFAIK, it's part of the BIOS and can't be edited.
-
You can lower it though through BIOS settings.

wow that sucks i always thought you could turn it off heh.
-
You can sure turn it off: Play POST sound, off. In some computers this causes a loss of sound in the OS (Windows) as well, so in that case, just set the volume from BIOS to 0 (that won't affect Windows sound).

I just disable POST sound and the bloom go away. And I change BIOS volume to 8, in Windows, G50Vt's sound is now loud and clear.

Can't a BIOS be modded? (Obviously not for the faint of heart but people have done and will continue to do some pretty crazy things)
-
I don't see why it shouldn't be possible.
I know for instance that ViciousXUSMC modded the BIOS of his EEE to display a custom image instead of the ASUS splashscreen. -

I'm not on my G50V, if nobody beats me to it I'll try and mess with this when I get back to it later tonight. I think it'll just entail making a similar bit depth and sample rate wav that is exactly the same amount of bytes (padded with silence), then reflash the BIOS with the new wav inserted from the offset.
Edit: I extracted the WAV from the BIOS of my N10J, it's 8 bit 24k mono PCM, probably is the same on the G50
Edit 2: I changed the BIOS startup sound on my N10J, so I'm pretty sure it should be the same process on the G50V.
First, get the BIOS from the ASUS support site, extract the zip, and rename the BIOS file to have the .rom extension. Then get mmtool, load the BIOS and extract the FA module as uncompressed, save it somewhere... find your new sound, preferably something that sounds like a casio keyboard because it's 8 bit... Then chop (or pad) the file to match the length of the original. Save it as 8 bit 24khz mono PCM. You can do this with either Microsoft Sound Editor or Audacity or something similar. Then open mmtool with the stock ROM and replace the FA module with the WAV, save the new BIOS file into the root of C:. Reboot and in the BIOS make sure Quiet Boot and Play Post Sound are enabled, and the speaker volume setting is on 4 or higher. Then flash with EZ FLASH. -
any WAV should work. just make sure it fits in the bios
(you could check if rom holes still exist, if they dont you may have a problem). quiet boot doesnt have to be enabled.
other changeablge stuff:
F8: that rainbow coloured asus logo (idk where its from/what uses it), JPEG-JFIF
1A: the small AMI logo top left of the screen when using quietboot, GRFX (header = 47 52 46 58 01 01 08) forgot what i used to open it
0E: the main animated asus logo on normal boot, XBMP (header = 58 42 2D 50 5E E6) forgot what i used to open it (only showed the first frame)
in theory, the bios should be able to render a jfif for all 3. -
ohh, that is great thalanix, but how do i do that, if you have the time please explain step by step, who do i access all those settings an change the sound to a wav sound

If you are unexperienced with BIOS modding and other such "hardcore" computer work
(As you seem to be) I would advise you not to attempt BIOS customizations. You can turn your computer into a brick by flashing a bad BIOS.

being the lazy person i am,
Anyone knows how to change the republic of gamers sound that my asus g50vt x5 makes at startup
