I'll be the Guinea pig this afternoon when I get home. I'll document what's currently there and then see if there's anything new.

Will also note before and after 3DMarks and temps.

Yea.. I'd be interested to see if there is really anything different. Also, FlipTwisteR. Are you or your dog the primary user of your S96j? :p -Love the avatar

Aparently I'm a fricking newb because I can't get the BIOS flash to work off the CD drive. I create a bootable CD and include the 3 files.....launch AFLASH2 off the D drive......I choose to copy to flash memory and specify the file as D:\96JS.rom and the "loading file" bar comes up but nothing happens. Eventually, after waiting long enough I do a hard reboot.

    1. Download BIOS image file and Aflash2 utility.

    2. Make a DOS boot diskette **without autoexec.bat and config.sys files**.

    3. Copy the AFLASH2.EXE, and unzipped BIOS image files (ex. 96JS.rom) to the boot diskette.

    4. Boot the system with the boot diskette you just created using a USB Floppy drive.

    5. Then at the DOS prompt type AFLASH2 [ENTER].

    6. Choose option ‘2’ to update the bios name and type in the bios image name (e.g. 96JS.rom).
***Confirm the model is correct before flashing***.

    7. Choose ‘N’ to not program again if programming was successful.

    8. Reboot the system, press ‘F2’ to load the setup defaults in the ‘exit’ menu, and save and exit.

I don't think that will work...can you substitute a flash drive for the floppy? That might work

    Greetings from Australia :)

Updated the Bios 5 minutes ago.
I suggest downloading the Asus Update Software for Windows from their website. It will allow you to flash in Windows, without the need for Floppy Disks ete.

Nothing seems to have changed much for me... it redetected some hardware (Chipset, IDE Controller) but other than that...

this is a post that hasn't been viewed in awhile but I had a brief question, regarding bios. I'm interested in purchasing the S96J notebook from http://pc.ncix.com/ncixpc/ncixpc.cfm?uuid=54F8CB0A-130E-1141-85EE8A8E4CBEE2D3-1249429
This only allows the option of purchasing Core duo (Yonah) and not Core 2 duo. first, I can order it either without a processor or I can simply do an advanced search and find the core 2 duo and set up the order to get the c2d t7200 processor (which is what I want). However, I am curious - is it possible to flash bios without the processor if you need to? If it has the latest bios, will it run the Merom processor automatically? I have emailed the tech support there but I was curious if anybody here knew. Thanks.
