I have used both on my W7J. Currently I only use NHC.

Power4Gear works fine, while NHC basically does the samething but with more features like manually set voltage/frequency, temperature display etc.

I use dynamic switch mode on NHC while plugged to the wall this way the laptop doesn't get too hot w/ normal work but also will speed up when needed to (and the temp will rise for that period of time). And battery saving mode when It's not plugged in. It is really easy to use if you don't mess with the frequency/voltage urself and just use those preset modes.

MrBamboo, I believe he was referring to P4G and HControl instead of NHC :)

I haven't tried the modified HControl since it's for year old versions of ASUS...

hmm yea I'm a bit unsure about changing settings for power management as it could be a very sensitive thing..

however I would relaly like to set some shortcuts with buttons I don't use (like all the media buttons on the W3J that are just for use with CD's in ur drive..)

the only difference between power4gear and power4gear+ seems to be cosmetic mods to the GUI. I don't think this is very useful at all.

i use the modded hcontrol, cos mine was causing issues with the intel drivers. Not the utility itself but just installing drivers was causing hcontrol to crash on startup. I guess the uninstall was done properly, but it didnt remove some stuff and i couldn't be bothered to scour around in the registry.

i just need hcontrol so that i cud use the volume up and down and the p4g hotkey and those work.
