I was feeling abit tweakish today and wondered if anyone had tried the latest 5.13 catalyst drivers form ATI on his W2V.
Also wondered if using XP media centre edition has any influence.
Driverheaven has the drivers with the manufacturercheck removed and they also have versions for both MCE and XP.
Latest catalyst 5.13 drivers on offer are the general (non-mobility) version, but I read from experienced sources on this forum that this should not be any problem.
Brave, stupid or both? figured they don't update them drivers for nothin![]()
Would appreciate to hear any users with experience with other driver on the W2V with MCE.
Cheers!

i haven't tried the standard 5.13 cat. but i'm currently using 5.12 mobility cat. my laptop is M6Ne with WinXP Pro. i had to change one of the setup files a bit to get the correct resolutions. other than that, everything works fine.
if you want to use the standard catalyst you need to use the mobility mod tool to make the standard drive mobile compatible. i did that with 5.09 and it worked fine also. -
Hi iiiemuii, thanks for the reply!
I was under the impression that the drivers at driverheaven were 'pre-modded' but maybe only for the manufacture check. Thanks for the heads-up. Also I remember reading from one of the mods (in I think it was the hardware section) that the cat 5.12 driver was worse than the 5.11 in terms of stability. Dunno if it was the mobility version. Changing the setup files as you did sounds a bit more tweakish than I was feeling ;-)
Anyone with W2V experience, good or bad...? -
this is the golden link for all ati mobility radeon owners
enjoy, it will always have the latest mobility driver, when a new one comes out it will be on this link
http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/
and yes the 5.13 is a very good driver -
Thanks circa86, the golden link, that sounds promising.
EDIT: I just installed it and it works fine on a W2V just in case anyone else is wondering.
Including Catalyst Control Centre for as far as I have tested.
So, there seem to be no particularly proprietary changes to the X700 implementation by ASUS for the W2V,
a possibility the ATI website implies.
Anyone try the W2V and ATI 5.13 Catalyst Drivers
