I'm considering a W2 in the future and was just wondering if anyone uses their W2 as a mobile notebook? I carry my machines back and forth to work and throughout the day. I'm curious if anyone has tried this yet. THX

Find a big old text book from college... and carry that around all day. 7.25 pounds is not heavy for a 17" notebook like the W2 but, as with anything, every little bit counts. It's a personal perference and if you're used to a 2.5 pound machine, or not carrying anything at all, it'll seem like a lot if you carry it in one hand. If you have a bag or better yet, a backpack, it'd be easy to do. However, if you don't have a big use for the W2 over the course of your day, then why get it?

It's certainly a portable machine, but for me it's not what I would consider "mobile". It's true what people say, that it's very balanced and it doesn't seem any heavier than a Z70 (M6) which weighs in at about 6 pounds. But again, if you're used to a lot less weight, it's something you'll have to at least get used to. It's certainly not an old 10,11,12 pounds clunker though. You're carrying around a desktop computer, tv and stereo..... If you can make use of everything the system has to offer then there's nothing better.

Man I used to carry two different backpacks while doing my time in college. I had to use one bag for MWF classes and the other for TTH classes. Each one was stuffed full so 7-8 pounds is nothing. If I had a notebook back then I wouldn't have needed to carry so much crap. :D Thanks for the answer Justin.

... that's your answer then.... some people are different or have smaller frames and something like that would be heavy...... if you're a big guy/girl then maybe not.. it's all relative.

The weight distribution of the W2V is much more even than it is on the Z70... which makes it feel lighter. On a scale though, the W2V is definitely a little heavier.

Yeah, I've got to agree..... I carried around an M6 for almost a year and the w2, even though a little more than a pound heavier.... feels lighter.

Hahah.... yeah yeah... no, the notebook could be 5' long and as long as it's balanced it's not going to be bad...

I think, that if you are carrying it around, the physical dimensions of the notebook make it more of a burden than the actual weight. As already posted, the W2 is heaver than the A6v(a), but the weight is distributed over a bigger area so it seems lighter...

If you get a good bag with a comftorable shoulder strap, it shouldn't be that hard to transport.
