I'm thinking of getting a z71V, but I'm a little worried about the z70Va screen issues. Do these screen issues carry over to the z71V?
Also, are there any other major issues/problems that I should consider? How is the fan noise/heat?
Thanks.

They use different screens.
The z71v is a good choice, and great price for a great laptop.
There is some minor 'Sparkles' issues some people are saying but you'll have to look at one yourself to judge it for yourself. -
The "Sparkle" issue is really quite subjective, as coriolis has already mentioned.
I've seen the screen for myself, and quite frankly, I don't notice it at all. -
If you're trying to save money, then the z71v is a great choice, because it offers performance near the z70va but for a cheaper price.
If you're planning to spend over 1500 on a z71v, I recommend going for a lower configuration with the z70va. I wouldn't be able to justify paying too much for the z71v because it isn't that great a laptop. But for a budget gaming laptop, its as good as it gets. -
tetrismaster makes a great point... the Z71v is the new "CL56" of budget gaming.

Yeah the budget isn't the #1 priority.. so you're saying the 70 is actually a better system than the 71?

I've always considered the Z71v the "best bang for your buck". It shows, when compared to the Z70va - how specs can look VERY similar, yet build quality and screen quality can't be judged from pictures and specs....... it's a great system, but I'd only get it if you need the performance and don't care about the look and build of your system or the overall quality of the screen and other parts.....

Excellent, thanks guys. I'm more considering the Z70Av now though

Anything to deter me from z71V?
