Flaxx(welcome back btw )
They were all picked by the Mods, Justin and I, with reviews and revisions to the list. If anything, this first 'contest' is just an experiment on how it goes, next contest may be different.
This poll will go on for 1~ week, and will end on the first of May, the next day, or even the same day, the results will be posted.
Oh, and try not to vote for yourself haha![]()
Best of luck!

It is public so you can see who others vote for...I'm fighting the good fight not to vote for myself - LOL!
Good luck everyone - I'm honored to be in consideration. -
Yes, its public, I was hoping for it to be private, but only Mods/Opening poster can see, but vBulletin does not allow that. And then to prevent cheating(which I doubt, but just in case), this had to be done.
Thanks, and again, best of luck. -

How are we supposed to pick? So many good choices - I'm at 15 minutes [it took 45] and I still don't know - and I have work to do.

Everyone has one pick and since they can't block the nomoniees from voting.... they could obviously vote for themselves, but with one vote a piece, it's not going to be a deal breaker..... good luck to everyone and I just wanted to add that everyone on that list probably didn't even expect it and that's what we want.... just people doing what they do and getting rewarded for it.... not going out of their way to knock one out of the park... these members were consistant for the entire month and that's why they're there.
Good luck. -

Kool, thanks for having me on the MVP, "If I become Mr. Universe, I want world peace!"
Um, how long will this poll be open for?
And the fact that we can see who votes for who, makes it kool.
Mucho Gracias to Justin and ProPortable for offering such a great program, and information for the forums
Thanks,

The poll will closed at midnight on May 1st and I guess although we'll know the winner.... they'll be officially announced on Monday the 1st at some point.
-
It's going to be interesting to see how many "new" members vote for people.
-
With at least a week or so before the poll closes... it's a good chance for the nominees to make exceptional posts to help swing the votes *hint hint*

TheUndertow, means poeple making accounts to vote...for a perticular person already on the MVP list.
Hence, someone can make about 100 accounts, all vote for one person, then win.
Of course cheating is not allowed, and we have the means of proving who do try to abuse this.
Also as Justin mentioned, its not like we are winning a car...
I think everything should go perfectly for this.
We got like 11 days to see how things turn out
Thanks,
MysticGolem -
^ Agreed...it will be funny to see though.
Good luck bud - may the force be with you -

Like I said....... the people who are nominated obviously contribute to this forum so much that they wouldn't have the time to waste to make accounts and vote for themselves multiple time and yet still have the time to help post around the forum..... With that said, if an abnormally large amount of votes come from members who haven't even been around for the month and have no or very little posts...... there's going to be some serious critiques of of that particular person.... but like I said, that's so far out there that it's highly unlikely and if we find something is going on that is totally ridiculous, the person in second place would win by default and I'd have to say that the person who gets disqualified is probably never going to get nominated again either.... All of this is somehing that myself and the moderators could talk about if and when something occurs.
What's more depressing right now is the number of total votes....... I think we've got a three way tie for first place, all with 2 votes....... come people, vote! It's funny though..... those who are nominated and the mods and dealers on this site can't vote....... so that leaves the people who don't contribute much to vote.... if this turns out to be a complete disaster, we'll have to rethink it.... but want to see triple digits numbers for at least the highest voted.... we'll see what happens. -
CalebSchmerge Woof NBR Reviewer
Yeah, the turn out certainly isn't quite what I expected, but I bet in the next hours it will pick up a bit.
-
Yea its all good, but they have a lot of time to vote. If I could vote i'd give it to The Undertow cause hes a chill guy, and he loves tool/pearl jam.
I bet he's excited for the new tool album comming out! I mean its been like 5 years !! -
I would vote, but I don't feel like I've been here long enough to make an informed decision.
-
Vote added.
MG, maybe this will give you an incentive to finally buy that laptop you've always wanted -
what am i doing there??!
lol. awww.. someone voted
*sheepish*
ditto that androo, and undertow to the fore.. -

hhehe, thanks prime
Coming real close in a decision that's for sure. (W3J + LCD + Accessories) or (V1J + Accessories)
Can't wait till people start getting their W3J for reviews, and can't wait for more info on the V1J.
Thanks,
MysticGolem -
I've lurked, i've learned, i'm ready to buy.
Voted: MG
Good luck. -
I plan on busting out a review on the W3j when I get it (I'll try to do some marathon work to get it out quick for those on the fence)...if anyone has suggestions as to what would be interesting to cover, please let me know.
I'm going to try and cover the obvious (fit/finish, benchmarks...etc) and the not so obvious stuff. Benchmarks are important, but it's also the little things that impact long term computer love.
BTW - to all the votes, THANKS! -
CalebSchmerge Woof NBR Reviewer
I don't know Undertow - with a new ASUS, I don't know how you couldn't love it. I got the V6j, and I wish all I had to say in the review was: "Why haven't you purchased yet? This computer is just plain amazing!"

Um, you would still havta report boot times, also test in both Fat32, which is what ASUS sends it to you as, and then your prolly gonna chagne ur HD to NTFS, so you will wanna redo most if not all tests.
Estimated time to do all this work is roughly 15 hours, not including installing things like MS Word and other programs for business/school use. LOL i thought i could complete this list in roughly 1.5 days of writing and testing.
some of the batterylife tests do not need to be done
PS: i will be doing this for my review on w/e laptop(s) i get, but i came up with this list like 3 months ago so i know what i gotta say when i make a nice review.
Thanks,

Someone has too much time on their hands...I thought I spent too much time on making the list for my review, but...I was completely wrong. Good luck with the review, even thought I won't be getting the W3j - I look forward to reading about it!

voted for MysticGolem
good luck -
I also would like to say "Thanks" for the nomination - I certainly didn't expect it but Thank you! I've learned a lot from frequenting the boards here and just try to provide whatever I can to keep the flow of information going
Mystic, I also decided to get a separate LCD with my W3J, and I went for the ASUS PM17TU - its gorgeous. I'm sure if you wanted a larger screen, any Asus would provide an equally good experience. Let us know what you decide on! -

Ok...... well anyone representing a company can't vote........so it looks like at least one vote is going to have to come off..... come on, it's not that complicated guys.....
-
I voted for Goren 'cuz he's been generous with his time in providing me info and advice.
-
I voted for shampoo 'cuz it keeps my hair clean...
j/k Shampoo - it's your posts, trust me ... -
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Finally got around to registering after having my new baby for about a month, although have been following for some time. I must say that I agree that this is a wonderful idea and effort on Justin's part to offer something like this to the community - I hope that the concept really takes off as he has suggested.
Very difficult choice for who to vote for...... but in the end....... mine goes to Shampoo. -
Sorry! I just realized I never said who I voted for
My vote went to SRD. I've had a number of questions since joining the forum, and he's been kind enough to PM me on the side with a good deal of helpful information.
There's my vote! -
Ooh cool I made the list. Good luck to everyone. Even though I wont win its cool to be on the list. So many helpfull people here on the forums I hope everyone wins. =)

I've been really busy lately and haven't been on the last few days much at all...I still don't have much time but I'd like to say I'm honored you put me on the list and I appreciate the few votes I have so far. There's lots of really helpful people who contribute a great deal to this forum and make it the wonderful place it is...It's cool to see some of those people get recognition. Also, since the moderators and retailers are not being recognized or allowed to participate, I'd like to point out that they're a huge part of what makes this Asus forum so popular and informative, without them this forum would be like all the others, It's their presence, time and effort that makes this place as "special" as It's become!!! keep up the good work and thanks for taking the time to create something unique like this for everyone.
I don't know If It's appropriate, but good luck to everyone on the list, I'll be back to contributing like normal by Sunday -
Doesnt seam like a lot of people are voting.

Thanks, for the support guys.
Yeah Johnny, =\, i do have one suggestion, un-sticky this so the people on the forums see this with the other threads.
Since this is stickied and its at the top, and no one know abouts it, people just ignore it.
Now if this was a normal thread, un-stickied, and was constantly bumped, it will increase popularity because people will see this thread constantly being refreshed and more and more post will be introduced.
Its worth a shot, cos by the end of the month, we prolly gonna have a max of 40-50 people voting, yet we have over 200 people here on the ASUS forums.
Thanks,
MysticGolem -
SRD.
I wonder why he gets suchs a few votes.
He might not have been posting the most messages, but those he posted were very helpful! -
Made my vote, im only new ish here even though I joined Nov last year, it was looking for information about the W3J that got me hooked, but after bouncing around the forums, made me realise how useful these forums are, so am deffinately going to stick around!

No offense but this turnout if ridiculously ridiculous.... I'm glad I didn't agree to go bump up the prize until we at least tested this out for a month...
... there are 900 views... 37 posts... and 33 votes..... -
I voted. This is a great idea.
-
SRD answers questions quickly, concisely and without arrogance. He gets my nod.

-
Maybe they're all waiting till the morning of the 26th to vote... make it exciting at the last minute
Oh and I agree with MysticGolem's idea, people usually ignore stickied things -
-
BTW, I extended the poll, 1 day should be enough for us to 'tally' and all

i agree with eslayter..that's why i gave my vote for SRD
-
...it's not looking good for me

One thing I don't like about a open poll. People who get lots of votes will tend to get the landslide effect where people like to jump wagon on the winner. I think the pool should be closed when voted on so the total basis of the win is based on pre-set criteria.
You cannot deny the landslide effect where people coming here will vote for the people with more votes. People with 1-2 votes probably wouldn't be given consideration by someone voting because that person would figure they will loose anyway and there vote would be wasted then. The landslide effect can mess with the outcome and should be considered.
The voting should be private. Imagine for a second if you walked into a poll booth for the presidential race and you could immediate see who was winning, before the outcome was announced. Letting people see the number of votes does not give a fair chance due to the landslide effect.
The votes should be E-mailed in and not announced till the end of the month.
I am not making this post because of the number of votes I have. Winning is of no concern to me. I am honored to be nominated in the first place.
