If people see three front runners for wining they will bypass the others and try and help one of the front runners to win because they don't want there vote to be wasted on someone who will not win.

It's very possible, but the same thing happens in public elections. The last I don't know how many presidents of the United States have been from major political parties, and thus considered front runners. But that didn't stop a sizeable number of people from voting for other options, either.

Whoa I must be blind or stupid. I didn't notice this thread. HAHAHA.

Well thanks for the votes~! Even getting nominated is a real honour. I'm so flattered.

I have yet to vote. I'm gonna do a quick run through the forum threads to see what's going on. Haven't been paying much attention lately because of exams, but now that I'm done, I'm gonna go check it out, but for now just looking at the names, oh my, this is going to be a hard vote because all those guys have contributed a great deal, not only this month, but prior to this MVP contest as well.

For now I have Goren on the brain. :D

heh thanks for the support, but wow people just don't see this thread up here. :(

I highly suggest un-sticky this and have someone constantly bumping this so that people see this.

I bet people come to the forum and scroll right down and don't even see the word MVP, nor do they know what it's all about lol.

Once this MVP program gets enough publicity then it should be put back at the top. But then considering the fact that new people are constantly coming in and that the people who are here and get thier laptop they just leave.

Anyways, there are a couple of days left so, if its possible un-sticky this for about 2-3 days and see what happens.

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem

I don't know if it needs to be unstickied, I just think at this point there are a lot of people that just don't know/don't feel comfortable voting yet. I know I was looking for it, but thats because I follow the forum daily to see what is going on. Maybe in the following months there will be more publicity.

That's the thing, either it was to be public, or nothing at all, but just votes. It's not that we don't trust the users, there was too many ways for the system to be abused.

Plus, people don't see the final votes til they actually vote, or view it.

There's still a few days left and so maybe we'll see a rush of votes? I don't know...

The thread is at the very top of the page...I guess I can understand people glancing past it but will they do that regardless?

Some people just don't want to participate if they're not involved directly (even though I could argue that by voting, you ARE directly involved) and can't win anything.

EDIT: Just got a good idea...we should call the contest: " Asus Idol"...oh man...I'm here all day.

To me, Asus Idol would just give a bad connotation, I don't think I could vote for that...sorry Undertow, I just couldn't do it.

Hahaha, Asus Idol? You guys are hilarious.

I was thinking more along the lines of MVM, Most Valuable Member instead of Most Valuable Player.

Oh well. Oh my gosh I didn't realize how many people voted for me.

*sniffles* I'm so honoured. I still can't believe I got nominated AND actually had more than 1 person vote for me, this is unbelievable.

I don't care who wins, this contest was a terrific idea by the mods, justin and anyone else who is involved because it just shows everyone who the dedicated members are and sometimes reputation just surpasses prizes, really it does.

    Proud member of Notebookreview.com.

Someone should create a little tiny graphic that says that with an Asus tag near the end or something so we can add it to our sigs or anything else.

    Hrmm, maybe stickers?

Any graphic designers out there? I'm horrible, I have yet to play with Photoshop, I don't even know how to fill a shape a certain colour. :(

^ i agree lol, this is a wonderfull idea.

You suggest a sig that indicates you won the MVP (MVM) for ASUS, GREAT idea, now that im done exams I have time to do anything (gaming!) i can prolly come up with an graphic for this.

I am not a professional graphic designer, i consider myself to be a novice (amature) at it, but its hella fun doing graphic designing on my 4 year old rig with 512 ram LOL, no jokes. :D

I will be using corel draw/photo paint to design a little sig avatar that displays MVP for ASUS, something like that.

I will prolly be done by 5pm or something.

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem

Well I knew I wasn't going to win just didn't want a 0%. I think its a cool contest. Though I think the voting should be private till after the winner is chosen. It really doesn't feel like a lot of people voted. Seams like there should be more votes.

Like you said most people are here till they get there laptop and after I get my W3J I don't know if I would care to login as often as I do now and check the threads. Its just a good way to pass the time till my lappy gets here.

Hahaha. I think the contest is perfectly fine, nothing wrong with it. Remember you can't control everything. This is definitely not a popularity contest.

Now comes the close of the ever Asus MVM Contest~!

While I'm here I wanna tell everyone that I JUST GOT SOME NEW HARDWARE FOR MY DESKTOP~!!!!! :D

    ASRock Dual SATA2 motherboard and an Opteron 146 (2.0ghz) 939 processor~!!! Awesomeness~!!! :D

Thing is working like a dream and overclocks like a dream without changing any voltages~!!!! I'm at 2.6ghz with no problems right now. My ram is holding me back so I'm going to get some better ram when I get some money.

Yeah, yeah, this is completely off topic, but I'm happy and wanted to share.

    Rawr.

    :D

What the hell, I've been away, but I was waiting until 11PM tonight to cast my vote and you already closed the poll??? I was under the impression that you were closing it at 12 AM??? Not that It would affect anything anyways, but still...why was it closed so early? I was saving my vote incase It could have made a diifference for someone that I thought deserved it over someone else...but now that I see the way to results are, I should have just cast it the way I was going to a week back, and that was for Goren, oh well, Congrats MysticGolem. I must also say that 45 votes total is quite ridiculous considering when I logged in 6 days ago, It showed 53 people viewing this forum at that one time alone...anyways, thanks to all who took the time to create it, and thanks to Justin for donating the "prize" out of his own pocket.
    :)

Whoever couldn't follow my directions for letting the poll close at midnight - come on... how hard was that.

Congradulations MG for almost getting 25% of the vote.... out of a pathetic 45 voters. I know we nominated our top 10 posters, but what I didn't realize was that there are only 55 total posters on the forum..... Not all that bad for the first month of a test project.
