Hi, I'm cross posting a thread in NBF asking whether ASUS notebooks would be cheaper in Asia or NA. This morning someone posted an ad from a paper in Indonesia, and I wanted people's opinion on the prices they have. Is it cheaper there or here in NA? (I'll be going to Indonesia within a few months, so I might wait and get it there if it's a lot cheaper)...

The ad is the second last post down.. (the W5F looks to be at least a couple hundred dollars cheaper)

    Thanks

Hello, if you look several thread down, you will find another thread started by me. I copied the scanned picture from that other forum into my thread but I did read the newspaper as well.
In fact there was the same ad last Thursday, and I searched almost every store for A6Ja & only one that has one stock. But interesting info that I got was that a new shipment is coming in next week& omong others, there will be A8 series as well, not known yet which model nor its price.

I don't think Indonesia is cheaper than US or Canada but for my case as many other have advised, it is better for me to buy in Indonesia.

One more thing, you will not find any whitebox model in Indonesia.

Built on Asus model almost is a whitebox, but it is a brown color.
Ensemble model's box is more beautiful and pictures in there.

Just my own opinion and comment since I am getting a W5F myself next week.

I noticed that the ad mentioned two main specs different from what I am buying.
    - Win XP HOME
    - 512MB RAM

Here, the major shops are selling it at the RRP price of S$2,998 => U$1,886.
The best price you can get at shops in Sim Lim.. MAYBE is S$2,920 => U$1,836
At these prices you are getting the same specs as what you see on the advert in Indonesia BUT with 1GB Ram (512+512), XP PRO, 2yrs limited global warranty. Additional items which I am unsure if its available with purchases in Indonesia are : Mouse, Asus case and 6-Cell. By the way, no price difference in white or black

By my own sources, I am getting the W5F at a cheaper that S$2,920 but unfortuntately I am unable to disclose how much.

    not in Korea,
Asus A8jm just came out about 2 weeks ago
    and it costs around 200,000 W(950~975W = $1, so it's around $1900~$1950)
I'm also pretty sure that this price is same in Japan, too.

    W3J is about 15,000HK$ (1948US$) and A8Jm is 16,000HK$ (2077US$)

The only place where asus is cheap is probably taiwan

How much would the W3J cost if bought from Taiwan? My father apparently has connections there who might be willing to help me out.

As an aside, how much would the W3J cost if I were to get it from Norway?

looks like a steal at 48,000 NT. Does anyone know if whether it's in stock or whether if it's like an advance order?

I think it is cheaper buying in Taiwan
W3J is about $48000(taxed) NT, $1.5195 US, and $1.6814 CDN
Plus, if you are lucky enough
you might as well get freebies (I got a Targus carry bag and a free 512M ram)
along with the notebook you purchase.

    Hi,

In India, Acer prices starts from Rs.29000 (1$=Rs.44). May be the lowest market configuration.

    Regds,

asus laptops will generally be cheaper in taiwan. i was there last summer and found most laptops to be cheaper, but like previous posts have said i couldnt find any built-on configurations and the specs can be quite different (most likely lower) so in the end the price justifies what u probably end up getting.
