I have an Asus M50, and although I uninstalled most of the bloatware and redundant Asus applications that came preinstalled, I recently notice two folders using a big chunk of space on my C:\
C:\nis (Norton Internet Security - 900Mb)
C:\preload (Various Asus related stuff - 450Mb)
I am wondering if these folders are required, or safe to delete. Especially the NIS one - it is very large, and I don't use any Norton applications.

If you uninstalled the Norton apps, then the nis folder should be safe to delete. To be on the safe side, before deleting simply move the files somewhere else, reboot the computer, and see if it works. If it fails, move the stuff back.
A similar reasoning applies for the other folder, depending if you use any apps that belong in that folder.
If these folders contain installation kits, documentation or any other material potentially useful in the future, it's best backing them up before you delete, I think (e.g., to DVD). -
Thanks E.B.E - I figure that the NIS one is safe to delete, but I will def do what you suggest and move/rename it first, to be sure.
The preload folder seems to contain installers, for Nero, powr 4 phone and some other apps. Also some drivers and batch files that I don't know what they are for. I'm not so concerned about this folder since it's not enormous. The Norton folder is the one I really want to get rid of, as I can't stand Norton products
Are the c:\preload and c:\nis folders safe to delete? (Asus M50)
