Just making sure - I plan to order a pair of these for my G51. I haven't taken a computer apart since high school (4 years ago), so I'm a bit rusty. These seem to be suitable, but I want some confirmation from someone who's more up to data about this, I plan to buy two of these and put them in RAID0:

That works, but make sure you have a caddy for the second HDD bay if your laptop only came with 1 HDD.

actually there is an inset of foam that holds the secondary HDD in place. its not a -permanent- solution, but will do if the HDD caddy is out of stock at the asus e-store (which it usually is) I've had mine in the second bay w/o a caddy for about a week now (forge has had one in there for over a month, iirc) without any problems. Again, its not a permanent solution, but will do til you get a caddy, imo.

I have the RAID0 and hard drive configuration you're talking about. I've had no problems with them since I installed them on my G51Vx-A1 on 7/31. There are quite a few people complaining about these drives - vibration - clunking noises - 1 to 3 second hesitation by the operating system. Haven't had any of these problems yet.

    Your mileage may vary.

    Good luck!

Awesome. I'm ordering the A1, so there will be 2 drive trays indeed.

Put a piece of cardboard in there as a spacer.

He said he's ordering the A1. Why would you need cardboard?

Notebookreview main page has g51vx review where they have an open picture, here you can see both drive bays.

Btw where do you guys suggest me to place the ssd, in the original bay or the empty one? im thinking to place it in where the 320 came, since i dont want the ssd to be close to heating parts.

Because cardboard is cooler than caddys.

Soviet's post was made shortly before mine. Very shortly, I bet my post wasn't up when he started writing his.

Had no problems for the month or so that I had it bracket-less.

Since the eStore has them again, I ordered and installed a bracket.
