I just installed BF2 Deluxe edition and it stalls on a black screen when I try to load. I do have the latest Omega drivers installed and the demo worked! Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Maybe there's a conflict between the full version and the demo? I would try to uninstall both and reinstall the full version and see if that works.

This happened to me when i tried to play bfv. I got it to work, but it was in windowed mode. To get it to window mode i had to go to the bfv file and find the videodefault.con file. It was in the mod file then bfvietnam for bfv, not sure how it is with bf2 though

This should never happen on a GPU like urs. It only happens on integrated systems and GeForce 4-. This is basically a conflict between the GPU and the game. Try updating this game 2 the latest 1.3 patch. C if that resolves the problem. This has happened 2 me when I use 2 run on a integrated system.

BF2 runs fine on mine with the ATI Mobility 6.6 drivers.

I just don't get it because the demo and all other games (incl. more demanding ones) run perfectly fine. I'll try to see if I can run it in windowed mode and about the 1.3 patch.

Reinstalled what? If you're using the Omegas, aren't they based off the desktop drivers? If so, I have a x1600 in my desktop that I can't get to play - it crashes to the desktop after the videos once you select single/multi-player. But, as I stated earlier, the ATI Mobility Catalyst 6.6 drivers work fine on my W3j...

Here's the link to the thread with where you can get them.

Hmm, did you fully uninstall the BF2 demo(see if any thing lingers.). Try the drivers that came stock with the notebook.

OMG I fixed it. I can't believe it was so simple a problem.

Basically I ctrl+alt+del closed my Comodo Personal Firewall. I assumed that it would cause it to fully close. However it was still running and blocking apps. BF2 and COD2 among them. However since the program was closed it couldn't pop-up any warnings, so it forever was stuck. All I did now was to unblock the apps and kept the program running.

I figured out this was the problem when many online updating programs were displaying the same problem.

    Phew finally BF2 time!

Simple, switch to Outpost Firewall. Glad you got it resolved though.

I actually like Comodo, but the only problem is that I forgot to disable the thing before closing it. D'oh!

That's odd... I can see how a firewall can prevent you from connecting to the net, but from even running an app? BF2 single-player doesn't require the local connection...

Well because technically it also blocks apps from putting up hooks, calling other apps, etc like a mini-anti-spyware.

Yea, it prevents hijacking of applications, Outpost has the same feature but isn't as blatant as to prevent games or applications from running.

Then it sounds like more than just a 'firewall'. A firewall just selectively allows and blocks network traffic. As you said, what you're describing sounds more like the behavior of an anti-virus or anti-spyware app.
