Hello! I am new to this forum and I am in a pinch! My precious (W2JB) got crushed and the Mobo, LCD, etc, are CRACKED!
Some of the very expensive parts are salvageable. I just ordered a new mobo and LCD from Asus E-store. Only trouble is I can't find an assembly manual to save my life.
Any Help or advice on the subject is greatly appreciated! :)

You should contact Asus through email, or online and ask them. Usually only the companies distribute the manuals for their notebooks. You should also sift through their webiste and you may be able to find it.

Thanks for the reply! I actually have it ALL the way apart! It got very tricky wiring even for a laptop. It has five speakers! I am guessing its a bad mobo because it wont post, probably a broken circuit. Thanks again! I gave you some props!

Why don't you just send it to Asus and have them repair it for you? How much do they charge for labour?

It happened in different circumstances, but I also busted the LCD + the hinges + some other components on an acer computer and did exactly what you're trying to do: fix it myself with parts ordered online.
I wont lie, it wasn't easy.. but the computer was back to life in a day or two, like new! (minus a few screws.. ;) )
it's still up and running today! and since then I have decided that I'll never punch my laptop ever again :)
    good luck man!

What u did? We all would like to know also, u ran it over with ur car?

This is gonna be a very expensive repair, since most of the parts are broken, especially the case, which is y asus charges us premium on it.

I agree with Lunateck, it will probably be very hard (and expensive) to fix this machine if the MB and the case are cracked... probably cheaper to buy a new one.
ah well, let us know how it goes! good luck again

You realize that between parts and labor (your own or someone elses), the lcd and motherboard make up 2/3 of the cost of the notebook... right? I'm going to assume if those parts were ruined, a lot of the outside needed replacing too... which puts it well over the - not really worth it to try to fix category. Asus won't give you a guide to rebuild it... they don't physically make them. You'll need to figure it out yourself because Asus also won't rebuild it for you.

In the future, you might consider getting an insurance policy on your notebook. Safewise comes to mind. I will probably get it for my next one.

Who insured laptops or what did you insure it through (eg, homeowner's policy)?
