I'm really think about getting an Asus as my next laptop, but want to hold off until Yonah/Vista become more mainstream (I've got my Qosmio to hold me out :toshiba: ). Does anyone know when Asus is going to start implementing Yonah/Vista technology/software after it comes out (as in terms of time). I would think that they would put Yonah/Vista/New GPUs in as soon as the new stuff comes out, but I'm not sure. In addition, is Asus going to be putting out new models after all this?

    Thanks! :asus:

Yonah will be available sometime in Q1 2006. Vista won't be released until August 2006 at the earliest. So you'll be waiting approx. 6 months for Vista after Yonah comes out ...

Yes, but when will Asus be putting Yonah/Vista in their notebooks?

Yonah's replacement - Merom - will be released around the same time as Vista, so your more likely to see Merom/Vista rather than Yonah/Vista - probably late-fall 2006, in time for the holiday shopping season.

But of course that's all just speculation at this point ;)

Your question is very basic...... the answer is of course, but the time table is simply impossible to forecast. Yonah models from Asus should start rolling into North America by the end of February. Whenever Vista is actually released, you're probably looking at a month or so after that till they appear on the Ensemble models with it appearing pretty quickly on the custom systems as they're going to be built to order and the availability of Vista so someone like us is going to be a lot quicker, albeit in low quantities, than someone like Asus who will have a delay due to shipping from Taiwan.

If vista is released in August 06 I will eat my shorts.
Im betting 1Q 07, and to be honest Im not sure if your gonna wanna jump on Vista straight away I would give it 6 months so that hardware and software issues can be sorted out, I remember back with XP that when it first came out I couldnt run it on my new desktop because there were no XP drivers for my graphics card, I had to wait 2 months for those to arrive
Also by the looks of the beta's Im not that convinced that Vista is going to be that great compared to XP, but then I really hope that Im wrong, I didnt like XP much when it was first released either, but now I think it is the best OS from MS so far.

Haha.... Honestly, if it comes out in Q1 07, I may have to do the same thing......... Asus was getting some units ready for Mr Gates for the late spring (as of a few months ago) .... since then, those ETAs seemed to completely dissappear.
