Just got my Asus through Fedex today popped in 2GB Ram stick in it and I get 2 blue screens within 2-4 hours... I don't know but that doesn't seem normal at all. Only thing I have done to the computer is the Ram stick and install a Antivirus... Any ideas on why this is happening would be great.

Also I updated everything through Windows update

    Welcome to the forum!

Well, first thing is to copy the BScreen code that comes up with the crash, then look it up on Google to see what the origin of the crash is... did you do both at the same time, or did the crashes start after one or the other events you describe?

Depending on how much work you want to do on this....
    1. Did you activate/start up the Norton AV software, then uninstall it completely using Norton's AV removal tool from their website (to do the full uninstall)? Could be an AV conflict if you didn't do a complete removal before installing your next AV package (which is what, exactly?).

    2. Put the original RAM stick back in and see whether the crashes happen, then change to the new one again. If crashes reoccur, either buy a new stick (only $25) or download Memtest to run a diagnostic on the 2GB RAM stick to see if faults emerge and confirm it's a RAM problem.

    Thanks for the response.

I reformatted and didn't install the anti-virus and still blue screen and its too quick to write what the screen says. I get the blue screen then it shuts the power down followed by a restart.

I put my original ram stick in to see if that changes anything I'll post again if it helped or not.

ClearSkies hit it right on the head.

Could very well be a the new memory you got is bad, or not compatible.

Which 2Gb stick did you get?

Its from Crucial the RAM 2GB 200PIN DDR2 SODIMM 256MX64

It was probably from the RAM stick so far no blue screen I'll see what happens later.

RMA that stick from where you bought it and get you a new one.

Are you going to keep XP on it or upgrade to W7?

If it can handle W7 i'll get it. So far it seems like the taking out the 2GB ram and putting the 1 GB then inserting the 2GB again did the trick but I didn't get a chance to see over a long period of time. Hopefully its going to be fine.

Seems to work great now so it was a RAM issue thanks for the help.
