The Asus 1008ha looks like it might be the world's thinnest next to the macbook do you think so?

    Specs:
ASUS is including 802.11n, Bluetooth, 3G and WiMAX options, and packing in it Eee Sharing and Eee Arena software

    pics:

Is the Asus 1008ha thinner than the macbook? What you think about this asus model?

It makes me think it's a toy for girls :D
No seriously, I really don't like the white color, specialy on the keyboard, and the font they used on the cover is very ugly...

And I don't like a laptop to be so thin, because I prefer having something 'solid' in my hands. Thin is good, but too thin is bad IMO.

I was right after all : it's a toy for girls. I'm sure there's a mirror fonction and somewhere to hide the makeup ^^

I'm excited about this netbook. Been figuring out if I want an EEE 901 or the 1000HE and this seems like a perfect compromise. Hopefully it will roll out soon.

Well, the price is out $429 which is very decent IMHO. No release date for the US yet.=(

    Full 1008HA Review

There are also rumors of the ASUS 1005HA. Essentially the same thing as the 1008HA except that it is 0.2kg heavier, has an extra 1 USB port (1008HA has only 2) and the big difference, a removable 6 cell battery as I think the 1008HA has an integrated 4 cell battery. Price are rumored to be similar but obviously it is coming out much later. I'm tempted with this and the 1008HA is not even out yet! Argh.. been eyeing the 1008HA for the last 2 months.. I guess I could wait since I have no use for it yet.

zipzoomfly has it on preorder for $409, J&R has it for $429.
The thing i'm concern is the battery life, a 3 cell battery life, but says to last up to 6 hours?

Although the 1008HA looks gorgeous, it is a step down in terms of user usability, specifically the non-user replaceable battery.

I can't wait to see how the 1008HA feels. Everytime I hand ppl my 1000HE, they say it's heavy.

Yeah, the battery is a big thing. But the overall thickness of the 1005HA increased by 1mm I think. Still a good deal and they significantly cut down the weight compared to the 1000HE.

I think it's cheaper than the 1008HA as well. Maybe it's time to create a new thread for it. It seems like 1008HA is not getting as much interest than expected.

In some European countries, Asus will discontinue all models except the 1008, 1005, and some unannounced model. Even the T91 will mainly be sold in bulk orders only. Wonder if they will do that in the US/Canada? They did say they wanted to trim models, but that seems weird to kill off so many at one time. Right now the 1005HA is my favorite model.

1008ha is cheap already, $400 USD, I don't think the 1005HA would be any cheaper than $380.

Heard that the 1005ha is the seashell *with* a removable 6 cell battery in one of its variants and that it is being released this July in Europe, any truth to this and what are the chances of it coming stateside? Any idea of a time frame? Day one purchase if so...

It's a bit thinner than the 1000H, but from the overall design they
don't differ too much. Even worse, the 1008H is more expensive and
has less USB ports. Also, the VGA connector is hard to reach, which sucks
if you frequently use your netbook with an external monitor at home.
So if it was between these 2, I would always opt for the 1000H. Just my 2 cents

The 1008 looks completely different. It is also thinner and lighter. The 1005 which is coming out soon, I think has more USB ports and a regulard vga connector.
