Afternoon,
My asus Eee PC UK version arrived today and its perfect.
However I only went for this netbook so that I could put my spare SSD into it as it comes with a 5400RPM mechanical drive.
There is no maintenance panel to get to the HDD only a RAM access panel and in windows it says fixed HDD. It clearly said a SATA II 2.5inch 300 on the listing.
Do I need to disassemble to get to the HDD? Or is this not changeable? If not my only option is to return it![]()
EDIT: It appears as the Asus 1015PN model is the same and it requires a disassembly.

For most of the newer Eee PCs, you have to take off the top chassis to get to the HDD.
There are some screws underneath the battery and then there is a tab or two in there that you have to push, then you can use a prytool to get the palmrest off and then the keyboard. There are some videos on youtube for the various models.
I really wish they didn't do this, but it's the trend on all of them since the first Eee Seashell was released. -
I suppose Asus warranty is rubbish anyway and it only cost me £150, the SSD performance will be 5 times faster......if I have torn apart a G73 and G70 numerous times I should have no problems with the eee pc then? -

The warranty sticker is under the keyboard most likely.
Here's an example from the 1015:

Great success the keyboard coming off was a pain in the rear but that movie was very helpful.
I got inside and thought might as well repaste the CPU and LOL ASUS there was a screw missing holding the heatsink down on one side the compound was barely touching the copper heatsink and half the chip was not even covered in compound.
Dear god void the warranty LOL I have just prevented the need for a warranty. Wanna job done right? Exactly Exactly.
The layout between the 1011PX is nearly exact the 1015 however when you removing the two data cables the socket for the smaller cable is soldered DO NOT pull it out just lift and remove the HDD.
Thanks again Mr Asus Mod
