Hey everyone,
Just inquiring about BIOS Updates for my Asus 1015PN. I am using the BIOS version 303 that the laptop came as. The current latest BIOS Update is 701.
_____
Here are the listings:
Version 0701
Description BIOS 0701
Release 0701 BIOS that fixed unwanted SCI event queued in KB filter queue when system wakes up from S3 to S0.
Version 0601
Description BIOS 0601
Microsoft request adding empty SLIC table OEM ID to BIOS
Version 0402
Description BIOS 0402
Fix the problem that system can't boot to expressgate
Version 0401
Description BIOS 0401
Update EC Firmware
_____
I've heard that Asus BIOS Updates can brick your system. If I don't care about expressgate and my new 2GB RAM works fine, should I just stay at BIOS version 303?
Also, can anyone explain what is EC firmware is what the 701 BIOS actually changes?

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Best advice for anyone and everyone re: BIOS updates ...
1. If you don't know what you're doing, and don't have the technical expertise to recover, seriously leave it alone. Updates gone bad WILL brick your system, and you have to send it off to Asus tech support to have the BIOS reset.
2. If it ain't broke (i.e. you aren't having any problems that the BIOS is set to resolve) - don't try and fix it ... esp if #1 applies to you. The risk isn't worth creating a multi-$100s paperweight.
