I am looking to wipe the OS on this to install a very minimal system so that I can run VMWare Player (or similar) to run virtual machines.

Does anyone know what's best suited for an operating system to allow this? Since the netbook is limited on RAM, I don't want the base OS to hog it all.

    Thanks in advance.

After Dark, I am sure you would want to go with a LINUX distribution to accomplish this, but I am not familiar what would work well with the 1015 (AFA driver support etc). Do you have at least 2 gig RAM?
IF you do not get any suitable suggestions, I would suggest clicking the red triangle under your user name & request that a moderator move your post to the Linux section of the forum.
Sound like a good Idea to me, I worked on a buddy's toshiba netbook with 1 gig ram -- what a slug!
