Hello,
Questions for those who own this netbook.
1) Does it really playback 1080p? I have some movies/anime in 1080p in mkv format with subtitles. In your experiences, does this playback smoothly?
2) What RAM is compatible? I heard Crucial DDR3 2GB RAM (CT25664BC1339) works. Can anyone confirm this?
Buy the Crucial 2048MB PC10600 DDR3 SODIMM Laptop RAM at TigerDirect.ca
3) Is reformatting particularly difficult? I have heard that this computer comes with 4 partitions which cannot be changed.
4) At $300 Canadian, are there any better netbooks for the same price?
Thanks!

1. Yes, the ION2 works well to do so, especially once you get optimus going.
2. If its the one in the pic (with only 4 nand chips on each side) that will work. But if you want it to be full proof, getting it off of crucials site is guaranteed to work.
3. They can all be changed, moved, merged etc, with not much difficulty; I did so at least three or four times.
4. Probably not, the 1.5ghz dual core hyper threaded atom w/ ION2 is pretty hard to beat at that price, but then again I am not Canadian so Im not exactly surelol

Thanks for the answers CrappyAlloy!
Also, one more question. I have a dead computer (Dell) that was running Windows 7 Home Premium. Can I use the OEM Operating CD Dell sent me to reformat the Asus 1015PN to Home Premium from Starter? I ask because everytime I reformatted my Dell computers in the past, it never asked for the authentication key.
I've also heard of wireless or bluetooth cutting on rare occasions. Does your laptop ever encounter these issues? -
You would need the key, and as long as it does not get used on a different computer at the same time, it should be ok; but Ive only built custom desktops and things so thats my best guess.
Never had such a problem with mine; however, if you overclock with setFSB, well then things like that can occur yes, as the entire interlinking of every device on the board (through the front side bus) is sped up. I remember my wireless going out once or twice when I would overclock to near 2ghz. But if you dont overclock at all, or just not that high, it should be just fine. -
How did you do a clean install? The computer does not come with a recovery CD and the recovery partition always reverts it back to factory mode (with all the unnecessary bloatware).

Well you can easily download a copy of Windows 7 Starter, put it on a bootable usb and install off of that; then use the code off the bottom of the 1015 to activate it.
Or if you wanna upgrade to Home Premium as I did, just do the same thing except substitute Starter for HP and activate it by however you bought it (download/CD/etc).
