Its an Intel Atom N2800. Windows 7 32bit installed. 4gb ram (3 useable).

It will not play 1080p youtube vids smoothly.
It will not run Excel smoothly, for eg. delays in moving around worksheets, lag between pressing a cell to the cell being active etc.
even typing in something in excel, on a blank worksheet, there is a delay between typing and seeing it on the screen, its SO BAD.

    Its just so slow.
I wanted a tiny, light laptop, with really good battery life, that could at least play 1080p youtube vids with no problem, and where i could run excel with no issues, and word, at the same time - and have a pdf document open at the same time, and be able to switch between them with no issue.
its not for gaming or anything like that.

have i got some wrong drivers installed or something, or is it supposed to be this slow. The windows experience index gives 3.3.

The Atom is intended for very entry-level systems - commonly used in netbooks. It's not intended for 1080p content, nor is it good at handling several memory demanding applications simultaneously.

Another thing that will slow you down is having a large number of start up programs and services enabled. Those running in the background will tax the CPU more and consume more memory.

720P is the max the system can handle, anything higher than 720P will be laggy/sluggish.
