I know this is totally not a fair comparison really, but it's what I'm trying to decide between as wierd as it sounds. I need a new small netbook/laptop with a fair amount of performance, and yes, I'm a gamer at heart, have been all my life ever since my first Coleco Adam in all it's greatness...
I have an Acer Aspire One 10" now, and it has been great, but I'm tired of the Intel GM950. So, I'm trying to decide if a 1201N would do what I want, or if an Alienware MX-11 would be better. I know the MX-11 will perform better, but I'm worried about the size... this does need to be something that I can carry with me in the truck and use when needed on a jobsite (construction company).
I already have a G51 which I love, but it's not really mobile enough for day trips and mobile use in the truck... the Acer works great for that, but it's just too slow, and I'm ready to upgrade. My concern is that the Asus 1201N will be too slow for what I want, and the MX-11 will be to big. I'm ok with paying for the MX-11, but if it's almost as big as my G51, then there's no point. I can't find any actual size specs on the MX-11, as it's not yet released.
But, for some reason, really like the 1201N... was curious on thoughts, as I've had it in my CART at Amazon for a couple weeks wanting to buy it?

Well check out the 1201n reviews and owners lounge. Do your research see which adquetes the best for you. Build design, quality, and warranty. If you work at construction the majority of the time then why don't you think about getting a rugged machine? To expensive? I have a xps m1340 currently as my ultraportable its fine for some gaming. If your a gamer and want something with really good build quality then consider getting the m11x. Its deff going to have better build quality and performance than the nettop atom. It first will have the su7300 running at 1.3 ghz. Hopefully you can overclock it to a stable clock. Its a really powerfull gaming machine I am consdering.

Have pondered rugged machines, but honestly, I keep the notebook in the truck so it's not really that important to be crazy tough.... I'd rather have the performance for the money than toughness... it will basicly go between my office and the passenger seat/console of my truck, and my house. As a comparison, the Acer netbook has done just fine durability wise, I am very careful with my computers.
Biggest concern is will the MX-11 be too big for a protable use computer than I can use for both work and play? Warranty isn't a huge concern, I usually void the warranty quickly by opening them up and modifying them.
Thanks for the help! -
Lets see here then, it looks quite small from the videos and pics, its a bit thicker than my xps 1340 i am going to get it someday.

Yeah it looks like the M11X is just as wide but a bit thicker.
Overall I would say it's not much bigger than the 1201N.
But performance wise the M11X will eat the ASUS alive.
It's really not even close -
The M11x will devior that little netbook monster, go for the M11x its better and will last longer in terms of the market netbooks don't last that long.

Thanks for the input, now if they'll just finalize a release date
