Hold on to your cash folks! This is coming in at about $500 or less, according to engadget!

check out the link for a little bit more details ASUS Eee PC 1215N to ship in the US at the end of August -- Engadget

Another link here, damn the forum's auto commercials.
Mmm finally an Ion 2 with optimus netbook. Not going to wait for 1218, opting for this instead! Now for hoping they'll ship to china.

This looks like a very sweet laptop, but I fear that it won't hit the Belgian market as fast. My next semester starts in the beginning of oktober but knowing asus, this 1215 will probably be released way later.
But atleast this asus has a date, I don't think anyone has heard any news from the asus 1218 after it won the red dot award anyway.

Fingers crossed for a good battery life, because a 1.8 ghz dualcore cpu will probably use quite some energy.

Asus is claiming 7 hours on the 1215N, but well have to wait and see what the real world usage is when we get closer to August 23.

It can game at lower settings.
I just hope Ion 2 is better than the first generation.
Anyone know any benchmarks for ION 2?
The only thing I've heard is that ION 2 performs worse than the first generation which is very strange.

just google ion 2, i saw a benchmark saying that it will be twice as good as ion's 1st generation. ion 1 3dmark06 1118, while ion 2 1963.

edit: The 1201PN scored 2013 on 3dmark06, so 1215n definitely have a better result due to a better cpu.

p.s. I been thinking about netbook for quite often. Friend has asus 10.1, and its too small for me. 13 inch ones doesnt really count as a netbook, but another friend of mine had it, and the size was ok for me, 12 should be fine for me as well. Only one negative thing in my personal opinion, is that 12inchers lacks dvd rom, but i definitely can live without it. Im going to States for a vacation at the end of August, and probably going to buy 1215n. I really think it will be 479$ at new egg. 1201N (ion 1) is 479$, newest 1201PN (ion 2) came out and cost the same- 479$. I think these will drop down and 1215n will be 479$. It can be preordered already for 499$ at ExcaliberPC.

damnnnnnn, is it true that 1215n wont support 4 gb of ram even with 64 bit OS? I mean, at intel.com it says that d525 does support 4gb of ram. Can anyone shed some light on this? thanks

edit: Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) 4 GB
Memory Types DDR3-800 (SODIMM only); DDR2-800/667
