I bought an ASUS 1215B after much deliberation. After a few hours into my first session, I realised that the touchpad was erratic. I did all I am supposed to do according to suggested guidelines to no avail and wasting a lot of time. I checked the net for similar problems and to my surprise, many buyers also had the same problems and sending it back to the service centre (which is not easy to access) did not help. I wonder why ASUS continues to put the notebook on sale when such defects are already prevalent. What a blow to me to have switched from other brands I had been using (HP, Acer, Thinkpad) in the past without such initial problems. What should be excitement and enjoyment turned into pure frustration and wasted time. Ironically, one of the factors in my consideration was the good review and report of low level of complaints with ASUS compared to other brands. I discovered too the poor customer support that ASUS provided. Would ASUS or anyone wish to advise?

IMO, the touchpad on the 1215B is defective and the notebook should not be sold until the touchpad is fixed. I ordered one for my daughter and returned it right away. Bought a Samsung Series 3 from Staples for $349.99.
After my experience with Asus' failure to honor its warranty on another product, I am not surprised that the company continues to sell this defective unit.
BTW, this is probably the wrong thread for this discussion. -
I noticed one of the fixes was that the cable for the touchpad could be touching another piece of metal inside causing erratic behavior. User corrected it by isolating it with electrical tape and solved the issue. I can't vouch first hand, but might be worth a try if you don't want to send it in. I forgot to check on this when I swapped my hard drive for an SSD.
