    Hey everyone,

My old IBM A22 is starting to slow down and I am starting to look at a new laptop for school in the fall. So far, Asus has really impressed me with their notebook selection ie. style/performance. I was just wondering what models (14.1 screen) are available with dedicated graphics in canada.

    Thanks!

In Canada, both the ASUS A8jm and W3j are the leaders in 14" gaming laptops, with the 7600 Go and x1600 respectively.

You can get the W3J in canada as well, it's not just in the states.

I was just looking at some of the prices for the W3J and the A8Jm. There is like a $250.00 dif between the two and they both seem to have the same specs. Any reason?

    W3J - 1999.00 Cdn
    A8Jm - 1729.00 Cdn

The W3J is a top of the line Ensemble unit, while the A8Jm is an entry level Ensemble. They're both still very good, but the W3J supposedly looks better than the A8Jm.

Also, the W3J has another bay for another battery, but it has only 3 USB ports and no DVI.

The A8Jm has no extra bay, but has 5 USB ports and DVI.

Both have similar build. The difference being A8Jm comes with XP Home, while W3J comes with XP Pro. This adds another 80$ into the price.

The rest of the price tag comes from the more expensive chasis, brushed magnesium allows to make it looks sexy and what not.. The build qualtiy is similar, and the looks are amazing on both laptops. Chose whichever fits your budget better.

To get a better feeling for the satisfaction level of users for these 2 laptops, you should also check out the W3J and A8Jm owners lounge in this forum. Good luck with your decision!

in the us the w3j is closer to the a8jm in price right now than in canada so i think id recomend the w3j.

in canada i think i recomend the a8jm and choose the seller that lets you avouid ridiculous canadian state taxes.

If your budget is flexible, go with the W3j.

They're both very capable machines, but I would put the W3j in different class...namely in materials used and craftsmanship.

    My W3j games pretty well!

It's all about cost benefit...and your budget.
