Hi, I know some of you will burn me for this and say I should use the 'search' function, but it's not working for me. Either the search page never loads completely or I get 'internal error' messages.
Now, if you can forgive me. [8D]
I'm going to the US in early July and I'm really excited at the prospect that I'll be able to buy my first laptop computer. It's been pretty much narrowed down to two choices; the Sony S-series or the Asus W3V. However, there are a few issues- I know that Sony's warranties are completely ****e (this comes from years of using Sony portable audio devices). What about Asus? My sister has an Asus M3000 (Z70 basically) and it says '2 year global warranty' on it. I tried reading about it on various e-tailers and even Asus' website and still can't find a good description of how the International Warranty works.
Now if it does turn out to be a great warranty then the W3V it will be, for sure. If it turns out the Asus International Warranty is bollock, well might as well buy a domestic US model of any other band (namely Sony S-series)
If anyone can help me out then I will really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
Oh, I've also read into the W3V headphone out problem. I'm not sure what to make of it; because I'll be listening to a lot of music and watch many DVDs on the machine. Again input would be really helpful.
Thanks a lot! []

i believe asus laptops - the one totally built from them and comes with memory, HD etc... have 3 yr warranty. you have to register it with asus.com and it should show you the warranty remaining.
buy it with an american express card and per Amex you get i believe 1 yr more of warranty (on whatever you buy). -

I believe that 3rd year of warranty is for North America only, is it not? I'm from Australia.

oh and must be done within 60days of your purchase and before the promo ends.

your'e going to have to shoot an email to asus and attach a softcopy of your invoice showing an authorized dealer.

abcabc, more importantly, you have to be from North America and purchase your laptop from a US dealer to receive the 3rd year as stated earlier.
The standard 2 year warranty is global. I have not had a chance (nor do I hope to have problems while traveling) to test this warranty out. I would imagine that they have offices located in most countries (you probably can't get in serviced in places like zimbabwe or antartica).
By the way, they sell the W3V in Australia. Why do you want to buy one in the US?
