    Hello everyone!

I have two questions concerning the assembly of the Asus A2H notebook... Why doesn't Asus provide assembly instructions with this laptop??? (no that's not one of the two questions... :) )

    Question 1:
I downloaded the Asus manual chapter 4 from this site (found in the sticky note). I was wondering what that black thing on the CPU is on page 6 of the manual (very bottom of the page, image on the right)? They call it a thermal-pad.

There is indeed some sort of black cushion when I remove the heat sink from the laptop, but by the looks of it, I would say it's only there to protect the CPU socket before assembly, not to leave there after installing the CPU. It looks like it's made out of foam... I can't imagine I have to leave that on top of a hot CPU? There is after all some gray thermal tape underneath the heat sink already. If I leave the black thing on the CPU, the gray thermal tape won't touch the CPU, it'll be on the black foam thing. Am I right in assuming I can throw it away?

    Question 2:
How do I remove the keyboard completely? I need to replace it with a keyboard for another language. I slide the top cover off and slide out the existing keyboard with no problem, but I'm not sure how to loosen the thing that holds the connector ribbon to the motherboard. I don't want to break anything by trying something stupid. Any advice?

    Thanks for your help!

Oh good, just figured out how to install the keyboard. I simply had to pull (towards the screen) the two "handles" on each side of the ribbon near the motherboard. :)
