...the A3 is a "budget" notebook....... so is it a good deal? - sure.... you're getting more than what you're paying for which is the meaning of "getting a good deal" ....... but there are certainly "better" Asus notebooks. It really depends on what you're looking for and what your needs are.

I'm looking for something around or under 1200 which will be pretty reliable and last a while. How does this compare to say, the Dell Latitude notebooks?

Even the "worst" Asus is head shoulders above a Dell

Cool, so what's the general feedback on this model?

The better ones look sweet but out of budget :(

.... well the "e" model itself is old...... where did you see it and what specs did it have? "E" used to stand for pentium3 model...

In Canada, I believe the A3E comes with a Celeron processor...

Hmm... looks like they refreshed the specs of the A3E. It used to be a Celeron-M system with 256 mb of RAM...

Now the specs look quite decent. A good system for the average/budget user.

Because it's an older base, will it still be as reliable as Asus' current systems are?

Of course it will. I've seen one in person... and it's quite decent. Good, solid construction...
