I just ordered an Asus A52F-XA5 laptop through Amazon and it arrived 2 days ago. This morning I woke it up from standby and when I moved the mouse over the taskbar I saw vertical bands (which consist of thin horizontal stripes) flickering on the display. When I stopped moving the mouse, the flickering would stop as well, with about a 50% chance of the bands staying permanently on the screen or being permanently gone -- "permanently" until the nexy mouse movement at which time the flickering would resume. Here are two pictures, one full-screen and one close-up, as well as a brief video:

Has anyone else encountered this? Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Since it is linked to the mouse movement it seems like there is some drawing problem/miscommunication between Windows and the display. It's not just a random flickering. And it only happened for about 2 minutes, but I thought to grab my camera right away. It's acting fine right now.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

    John

Have you updated your drivers recently or done windows update? It could be a driver problem.

Have you tried it on an external monitor? If it also happens there, it could be a driver problem or a hardware problem with your GPU. If it doesn't happen there it can be a problem with the display cable (LVDS) or the LCD panel itself.
