Hi, a friend of mine dropped his Asus A53S from the desk and now the screen is cracked. Sadly warrant does not cover this so I proposed him now that he has to replace the screen to upgrade to full HD since the original screen was HD only and questionable quality. Will a standard 40 pin LED backlight screen work or also a new LVDS cable is necessary? Thanks.

Make sure you don't have accidental protection first; a good many Asus laptops have it inclusive of their standard warranty. You just want to be sure before you do something that will void it altogether. :)

Depending on where you get the screen, it may come with the cable. I don't think LVDS is electrically compatible with other standards, but do some research as I'm not 100% certain on that.
