I update the BIOS to the latest version, following the instructions on the page. web, completed successfully the whole process starts now when the laptop goes straight to bios, no way to boot the boot from other media (HDD, DVD). I tried everything, reset bios defaults.
before the upgrade in the bios where you add or remove boot media, appeared the list of units included in the arranqe, now after the upgrade nothing appears.
Im really worried, appreciate all the help possible.

I've also tried to update from the BIOS flash tool easy start, but has an error: build date is too old. and is the same bios file I'm trying to mount.

    what i need to do?

Try "launch CSM" and see if your boot devices come up. If not, make sure your drives are secure and properly seated.

You may also try rolling back the BIOS flash if it comes down to it.

I feel your pain, the same thing happened to me on my A55A. After an hour or so of searching for a way to 'fix' the UEFI settings I eventually gave up and just reinstalled the OS. So, once you get to this point, and your are willing to ditch ALL the data on your drive (assuming you don't already have it backed-up) here's what you can do:

Find and download a windows 8 ISO probably this one: "en_windows_8_x64_dvd_915440.iso" it doesn't matter where you get it from just make sure it's legit and the hash matches the one at the MSDN site (For example this is the one for the ISO I referenced: SHA1: 1CE53AD5F60419CF04A715CF3233F247E48BEEC4) ... this info is from here btw: MSDN Subscriber Downloads

Once you have the ISO, burn it to a DVD throw it into the drive, reboot and reinstall. This will give you a nice clean install without all the ASUS bloat too. Since you managed to download and update the BIOS I'm guessing you are already familiar with the ASUS support/drive site ( ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download A55A). If I recall correctly you'll only need to download a few of the drivers from ASUS like the chipset, audio, card reader, etc. Side note: the unknown driver is the "ASUS Wireless Radio Control (A driver to make you switch Airplane mode(Wireless) On/Off)" found in the utilities section (it enabled the "fn + f2" key).

    To Summarize:
**ALL EXISTING DATA WILL BE LOST ** if you aren't prepared for this, do not follow my suggestion
    Download Win8 ISO
    Burn to DVD
    Reinstall Win8
    Reinstall necessary drivers
    Reinstall desired applications

Sorry I don't have a better suggestion for you.
    Good luck!
