lazy much? - this entire forum is dedicated to building knowledge... if you won't do your own research, no one else is going to do it for you.... and by the way... if I hear anything "vista compatibility" question I think I'm going flip out..... Nothing is truly vista compatible right now.... and at the same time, nothing really isn't...... it's all going to work, it's a matter of how well... or at least thats what we all hope.

You're looking at two semi-performance systems that are made from a cheap series... the A6...... amd or intel.. you pick your favorite... but it's going to be a mediocre either way you go...... not the series I'd pick to show off everything Asus can really offer.

I'd go with the Intel system because it uses DDR2 RAM :p

Other than that, they're pretty much identical...

    Pick straws if you must.

It's not hard to judge for yourself from those two configurations to see which one is better.

The intel laptop is faster, the AMD one consumes less power, and I would not have Vista compatability as a factor right now. The details about the operating system are still pretty sketchy.

Justin is right - they're OK laptops, not great. Basic only.

The M series is good... (now known as the Z70 in North America)
Z70v or Z70Va...both are very popular at the moment

Any of the ensemble computers by ASUS are great... but more expensive (e.g V6v, W3v, W2v, W5a)

The M series has always been what I've considered the best well rounded systems Asus can build....... The W series is for a more expensive crowd.....

Correct me if i am wrong, the w3 is ment for people who are always on the go in other words portable and mobile needs. In which case it doesent suit my needs.
M6 is the very high end of the mutimedia machine with a kissable design with ati. Not too bad but if i'd buy that i would rather go for the acer ferrari 4005lmi, an well organised machine with something new to look at.
So the a6 with a 1.7 dothan and a gig of ddr2 with a gforce256mb at a competitive price will not be a bad choice either.

I can see that you really like AMD... lol...

The Acer Ferrari is nice, but seems too flashy... whereas the M6/Z70 is simple yet unique.

If you really want to choose from those systems, yes, the A6 with the Intel processor would be more worth it in my opinion.

well i wouldnt really mind the amd or intel but the price range is the key factor otherrwise i would buy the most fastest and good looking laptop in the world....porbably intel....lol.
but the thing is i already have a powerful desktop so the way i am looking at laptop is more like decent power with mobility, if u know what i mean.
M6 is an award winning laptop in terms of design appeal.

Then what about a Z71v? That's a lot more power than the A6 series... and the price is right.

"Built on ASUS" means that you will NOT have ASUS Global warranty... instead, you will have the reseller/manufacturer's warranty. It's not too big of a deal, if you don't travel much.

The Z71v is a much better deal than the A6, in my opinion... in terms of price/performance.

By the way...... calling it a "pantium M" sounds like something you'd find at Victoria's Secret.
